I pay very little attention to what the media say about us, it's easier that way, read the sport in the echo and post and thats about it

Why are the media not saying anything about our injury crisis?

i have very strong feelings about this as the treatment of liverpool is very interesting where i work.
the pundits/experts- including a former red- have taken a very hard line with rafa. they don't like him and have been on at rafa for about 18 months over where stevie should play and the rotation policy.
it's got to the point that having repeated themselves ad nauseum, if they now change their tune they will look like complete tosspots.
The real question is why they took this editorial line in the first place- and i think the 2 answers are probably applicable across the media spectrum.
the first is that with lots of airtime to fill (for us in this instance, but could easily be column inches or web pages) liverpool provide great copy. when we win the media can wax lyrical about our fans, the great history of the club and so on, with the added cache of being able to throw in the "but when will they win the league again" angle
the second is a bit more specific for where i work, is that in Asia there are more reds fans than anyone except the mancs (and i would say its a close run thing) therefore talking about us in any context either gets passionate liverpool fans contributing/writing in or fans of our greatest rivals joining in to mock etc. its a win win.
having said all that, they are happy to go to town on any club in a bit of trouble- basically whatever will help fill the airtime. its a shame as we get Sky sports news on the satellite feed in the office and it seems to do the same thing.
all of which creates undue pressure for my money- but then i believe in letting the manager get on with it and getting the team through its bad form/injury worries.
and by the way, don't think that just because Asian football fans are far away they don't know what's going on in english football or aren't as passionate about us. i have met too many fans from loads of clubs who are every bit as nutty as english fans back home- you don't get viewing figures of 500 million for liverpool vs utd (which we get) without the vast majority being more than casual fans"At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques"

**** the ****ing media. They have always hated us, its run by bitter Chav fans. Southern ****ers. They love the Scum because they are scared of Fergie- I don't know even ****ing know why? What the **** is the pensioner Whisky nose going to do? I'll punch him in the balls if I needed to.
We are Liverpool, we haven't had the run of the mill in terms of fluky wins in a long time which have come at important times of the seasons- I mean proper pivotal moments. The Scum always have them, The Chavs had it last season.
Let's win the title and show the ****ing Southerners

They're all jelous of the success we've had over the years and how popular we were while we were winning everything. We won with style and humility rather than with arrogance like Man U and Chelsea.
Basically everyone hates us because we're the biggest and the best club (honours, attitude, fans, atmosphere etc..)The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I don't think you need to have managed to criticise a manager. Most of us on here have never played or managed at any professional level but we all give our views.Originally posted by Sarb24 View PostI seriously beg to differ with the first comment in bold there .
If Hansen knows so much why don't he grow a set and manage a team himself. Rafa succeeds and fails by his decisions. He's got a better managerial record than the likes of Gray, Hansen, Lawrenson etc. Andy Gray bottled taking the Bitters job too. All well and good sitting behind a microphone saying what's wrong....try doing the job day in day out!
Also many managers have criticised Rafa's policy. I've heard Graham Taylor, George Graham, David Pleat etc
The point is though that many people both involved in the game at the highest level and well respected journo's have all questioned his rotation of players.AKA Heighway No9

Hansen did the right thing imho. He has a great lifestyle. Still involved in football, plays a **** load of golf (his real love), no pressure of the sack, media witch hunts etc.
Jealous - me? Hell yeah!
I'd take it in a shot.Red not blue
