Another player with charachter rather than ability in my book

IMO Carra fits into that category. It’s no bad thing for a central defender.

Carra’s certainly not a very good footballer in the purest sense of the word. But he can defend.

From what little I’ve seen of him, so can Taylor.

I think he will mature into a very good player. I think he needs more experience before he moves to a bigger club. If he came to us there would be a distinct danger he would end up on the bench a lot and fail to fully develop.

From our point of view depending on the price it could be a very good option as being as he is a young English player he will retain value and he has already shown he can perform to a decent level in the PL. However I would like to see us bring in another ball playing CB.

I agree with all those who dont rate the lad. Happy to be proven wrong, but I`m pretty sure I wont be.

He has decent games, but mostly looks average in amongst a piss poor bunch of "defenders" at Newcastle.

Prone to errors and silly lapses in concentration (I dont care if he`s young). His heading ability leaves a lot to be desired, as does his positional play.

He may be a better option than Hobbs purely because of his experience, but to suggest he will come in and give good competition to Carra and Agger is way off the mark IMO.

Sad as it is, I spend most of my match-watching time glued to defenders. Its the position I`m most interested in. I dont go in for all these faggy creative players (just as well we dont have any).

Go out and get Laursen from Villa. Defender of the season so far. Excellent player. Richards is class too (as everyone knows) but he`d cost the earth. And even he makes stupid errors (2 pen incidents this season plus numerous slack marking incidents).

IMHO we need someone with pace and the ability to bring the ball out of defence. If he's strong in those two attributes and a good all round defender he should be an option to consider.

wrong age, but he is a fantastic defender and certainly an improvement on sami ( who isnt)!

would take hime for a season or 2, although his knees are shot apparently but he has managed to string a few games together this year!
