Did we expect SG to be crap for 5 games due to injury?
Did we expect to lose Carra?
Alonso?
Agger?
Torres?
Did we expect not to have Kewell?

No. Should our expectations not reflect reality?

Everyone gets injuries, part and parcel of the game.

The upshot is, we're not as good as we thought/hoped and maybe our expectations should be re-addressed.

Of course focusing on the bad is gonna make us go backwards. If/when something goes wrong, do you think harping on about it is gonna make it right? Of course not.

Working on the positves eradicates the failings doesnt it so there fore you dont need to go on about how **** things are. Expand on whats good and it helps. Try it. Rafa will focus on what we did right today. At times we played some decent one touch footy, focus on that so it becomes more of the norm and we'd have less to moan about.

Its not about igonring things, its about working at being good. If youve picked holes in everything before a ball is kicked then youre never gonna be happy are you?

I think you need to look at both.

Be pleased with the positives and work at repeating them. Acknowledge the negatives and work out how they can be eradicated.

Good point about the one touch footy. I might get slated for this but I actually thought that toays first half passing was as close to Rafa's Valencia team that I've seen. Short sharp quick passes and decent movement. The only thing we lacked was the final ball which, if we stick to the plan, will start to come.

The second half showed that we CAN mix it up a bit and be alot more direct.

Plenty of positives today if anyone looked for them.

Too right there is. Ok, today we didnt win but Id say Marseille was our lowestpoint and since then we have very slowly got back in to it a bit more in each game. The last 20 mins today was the best and longest for a while. We didnt dominate Arsenal but by sheer graft we matched them. We'll see another marked improvement at home on Tuesday and that will roll into Saturday.

While agree that we knocked it around quite well for spells in the 1st half, the crux of the matter is it took us 40 minutes to have a shot.

That ain't good enough.

I thought we looked strong, assured and confident for the first 15-20 minutes, but we needed to do something with it and create some chances. We never did, until late in the game when we improved.

Today wasn't a total disaster but it wasn't a good performance at all.

I saw them, shizz uploaded the game to maxxed, I'd suggest people review his cap in less emotional circumstances and try and work out how so many of us can be positive about us, esp. will the big 3 coming back.

I do support the team. That doesnt make me blind to the poor football we're playing though. You tell me mate, was today an example of good football? A good performance? Is 2 wins in 7 good enough?

If you answer 'no' to those questions, does that mean you're not supporting the team? Or are you just stating facts along the way?

I dont 'always look for the bad' at all. The previous 2 performances before today werent very good, but i never said a word. Never made a single criticism. Try and find one, i'll bet you any amount you care to mention that there werent any.

Seems to me though that WHATEVER happens, you'll call it good and question the support of anyone who dares criticise.

Question my support all you like, i dont feel the need to justify myself or my support. And i do hope i turn out to be terribly wrong.

But head in the sand or not, nobody of sound mind can sit there and seriously claim that we're looking remotely good enough at the moment.

I think you need to be able to distinguish between seeing things for how they are, and 'not supporting the team'. I support the team, i do so passionately and it means the fecking world to me. That might just be why the current plight hurts so much. I wish i could laugh about it and poke fun at others like you do, but it doesnt come naturally to me.

Yes, we're in a bad run but you show me any team in the world that doesn't have one.

Syd, if you want to have a go at a bad performance the fair enough it's up to you but in the match thread you had your knife sharpened before a ball had even been kicked. Quite sad, really.

I may not be happy with the way things have gone lately but my faith in all things LFC remains undiminished

Rafa has always said " judge my rotation policy in may not november"


Threads like this serve no purpose whatsoever and just give fuel to the likes of "kipper" and the " cafe"

Crouch was a major positive today. He won balls, and linked well with Gerrard bombing forward.

Now what we'd like to see is Rafa also acknowledge those positives and give Crouch a fair crack of the whip. Based on his performances against Arsenal and today, he'd be in the next XI on merit.

Let's see.

The usual suspect have stuck the knife in and that's to be expected.

Others have surprisingly jumped on the bandwagon and so be it.

That disappointed me as well. The number of times player a passed to player b who then passed it back to player a, who passed it back .... You get my meaning.

Two things occurred to me

1/ The game intelligence to develop a multi-move / multi-player attack is not there
2/ No-one was prepared to ACCEPT responsibility for driving the attack.

When HK came on he did BOTH. Xabi does both as well. Torres is all about taking on responsibility.

TBH The starting line-up (attacking wise) seemed a little mentally weak.
