Chelsea and Man Utd already had their early season dip in form... Arsenal will have theirs at some point, but they've already gotten themselves into a good position.

We play like **** at the beginning of the season, end up 10pts or so off the top and then when we do hit form, confidence or no confidence, it's just too much to make up - especially for our club / players. Why? Becuase we don't have the experience of what it takes to win a title. The other teams / managers do.

That is why some are writing us off - not because our situation is SO **** in general terms, but because we've consistently proven over the years that it *is* SO **** for us. I've seen absolutely nothing from Rafa or the players thus far to suggest taht this year will be any different.

Not Rafa's fault that we were financially mismanaged for the last 15 years - so when our rivals expanded we shrank (RE:Anfield vs Emirates vs Old Trafford) as just one example

Hence he had to create a squad with less money than certainly Utd and Chelsea, and we cant blame the owners, they are paying for new contracts and stadium even before any more new players are bought

Rafa is no Wenger, he cant re-build four teams with pences, but Wenger is no Rafa - our man is a tactically genius

Rafa persistance with Riise and Kuyt and Sissoko rankles me personally, but he is the boss, and currently we are unbeaten and within 6 points of the top, with a game in hand, and with Utd visiting soon

We just need to be in the hunt at Jan - especially when our rivals lose their Africian contingent

We need a LB/CB and AMC/Striker in the window no doubt
        We need better attacking players!

        Torres aint enough

          I said this earlier
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

Why the **** would we want to sack Rafa?? Imagine how ****ing miserable people on here would be if they did get their wish and we sacked Rafa

i think to hit the panic button and sacking Rafa now would be wrong.

Does our recent run of results constitute simple poor form or does it hint at deeper rooted problems within the squad?

I look at the way we have lost/drawn games recently and I don't think anyone could question the spirit and work ethic amongst the players, so even if they hate rotation its not effecting their ability to play as a team.

WHat has effected us imo is the manner in which we've conceded the goals. Virtually every single one could be avoided (only that marseille goal was a cracker imo) with better collective and/or individual defending.

the inuries to the players currently out and the ones to players who are now back (stevie f and g, carra still finding their form if you ask me) has effected our rhythm and yet we're still there or there abouts, with 3 key players to come back and the whole squad able to play at least 10-20% better.

Rafa tried to buy heinze who without doubt would be playing at the moment, it would appear that Rafa knows that JAR is not up to it (no contract offer and he has 18 montsh left) and that Sami's legs have gone.

he can be criticised for not having a fall back plan to Heinze and he can be criticised for his use of kyut over crouch (which is madness imo and stubborn pride on rafa's part)

But those 2 criticisms are about it in light of how many players we've lost to injury in the 18 games we've played for far this season imo

Blackburn haven't lost to any of the big 4 this season and I'm sure they'll give the mancs a game next weekend, so a point there is not so bad at any time, let alone the present circumstances.

This may sound like a RCDNW post but I don't think all is rosy at the moment. We have some problems, but they are not terminal imo. A few changes in january, players to get back to previous levels of consistency one fully fit and a bit of confidence that only a few decent results will bring.

if a CL win, a losing final, FA Cup win and the highest points tally since we last won the league don't buy Rafa any breathing space, then we might as well be like spurs and the geordies, sack our manager every 18 months to 3 seasons and admit that being in the champions league is the limit to our ambitions.

Speedy, it seems that the only people you credit with aforethought are those who agree with you. It's a bit tiresome. This is after all a discussion forum. You surely should expect differing viewpoints.

after a point away at blackburn is not the time that a sack rafa argument stands up all that well imo

Whilst unbeaten we are currently playing mediocre football at best, I have faith in Rafas style and management but the 1 thing that consistently puzzles me is his treatment of Peter Crouch. I think it is plain to see that we lack the edge that a premiership winning team needs but then he seemingly disregards Crouch's abilities. It is extremely annoying as I am losing all faith in our attackers, torres aside. Kuyt has been a great team member but I have made a decision (helped by numerous Grolschs) and that is that he is pretty ****ing ****. We need improvement up front and the sooner the better.
