I think we should re-sign Barmby just to annoy the ****ing Blue ****e! We could parade him before the return derby match holding a big sign saying "Once a Blue Always a Blue..."

There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

I'd rather see a sign: "Once a blue, allways a failure..."

I think the original post was making a valid point. After seeing Fowler toil badly again - as he did at Sheffield United - it's clear that he's not up to this level anymore. It would be no dafter to link us with Barmby than it was for us to re-sign Fowler

I've heard that Barmby is currently on the M62, leaving Hull. He might be on his way over to Merseyside...

I doubt even Tranmere would want him!

And I suppose it wasn't worth signing Xabi either since he's had a couple of distinctly below par games this season? Robbie was great for us last season and he'll chip in with important goals and assists again this season.

Red_Polo, you can't compare a world class young midfielder, who will get better and better but is suffering from a temporary drop in form, to a striker who (being kind) is in the twilight of his career and will never be as good as he used to be?

As I said earlier in the thread, Fowler is a living legend and we all love him but sometimes you have to face facts that all players eventually come to the end of their careers. Whilst I sincerely hope Robbie bangs in 20 goals this season I just can't see it happening I'm afraid...

I had these dreams last night and in them, Robbie scored in almost every game for us and was our top scorer. And we defeated Mancs 3-0 at Old Toilet. Don't know why I dreamt this... But I like the 3-0 :whatever:

Fair enough if you think that but my point is he's had a couple of bad games for us and then people say he's past it, but he was great for us last season so I think it's a bit soon to say he's well over the hill, hence the Xabi comparison - you can't judge on just a few games.

We all know Robbie is not what he once was but he still has something to offer IMO.

Funnily enough last night I dreamt I had eloped with Cameron Diaz and then shagged her senseless but when I woke up this morning my missus was still there...
