We'd get to see the team play more (although given recent displays I'm not entirely sure that's a good thing) and as said, there is the small hope that Rafa will give some of the younger players a chance.
Also, there are some very good sides in the UEFA Cup. Liverpool vs Bayern Munich would be a final worthy of the Champions League.
I don't.
I'd rather we come 4th in the group and be able to concentrate on the Premiership. We're not far behind Arsenal and they will inevitably have a dip in form soon.
We're not playing great but we're unbeaten so we've picked up points every Premiership game. Not as good a record as I'd hoped - but 5 wins, 6 draws is a platform to build on.
Anyway, we'll beat Besiktas tonight.
If we had some ham, we could have some ham and eggs .... if we had some eggs!

agreed - Uefa really ****ed this up by just concentrating on their cash cow, the champions league. I don't even know how it works anymore the UEFA cup, it just seems to be a load of ****e teams planning in a random group stage and at the end of it all..........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzOriginally posted by Marsh View Postisnt it a bit sad

we did mate. Be it in gate receipts, merchandise or money generated from extra advertising and their clauses due to the extra exposure, we made much more than what is on the UEFA Cup chart. I remember reading as much at the time.Originally posted by kewellnthegang View Posti dont think we did fellaBill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

i read we made about 10 million fromour uefa cup win in 2001
i'd rather be 4th and just have league games and domestic cups to play for.
which is a shame as the uefa cup is a great looking trophy
epecially when you've won it a record 3 times like we have"At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques"

Be interesting to see whether we could fill Anfield for the home games.
I'd quite fancy an away trip to some Eastern European back alley as well.
because the beer is cheaper over there right????
going to warsaw myself next week for a - eh........ stag
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

I don’t think the CL is even as good as the old European Cup format, I prefer it once you get to the knock out part and on top of that they have also devalued every countries other cups.Originally posted by PTP View Postagreed - Uefa really ****ed this up by just concentrating on their cash cow, the champions league. We can obviously see what’s happened to the League Cup and you would have to say the FA Cup is not what it used to be (or teams no longer treat it like they used to). In fact I think I would have to say that Platini might have a point in saying countries national cup winners should go into the CL and possibly go even further and say the League Cup winners should also go into it leaving just 1st and 2nd from the league.
Perhaps this would make teams treat all competitions as seriously as each other.
I’m sure I’m probably a bit
suggesting this!

It still does. I don't judge a competition's importance on the revenue that gets handed out. If so, I'd prefer the CL to the European Cup - which I don't. And I'd think the FA Cup is the "best cup competition in the world" - which I don't...in fact it bores the tits off me.Originally posted by Marsh View Postisnt it a bit sad
