Is this going to be the shot in the arm we needeed?

There's no doubt we have been struggling, and this ass-raping of a very poor Besiktas side was much needed.

My question is do you feel we can now go on to challenge the front runners?

We are only 6 pts behind Arsenal and i prime position to make a run i feel. This victory should instill confidence in all our players, and hopefully we can push the leaders and be right in the mix at Christmas.

This victory reminds me of the Birmingham game a couple of seasons ago. We were struggling, came out and flogged them 7-0, then went on a great run till Christmas. It was also at that time that a fit Harry Kewell made a regular string of appearances and gave us a solid option down the left.

    Can we do that again?

I certainly hope so - but they were very poor. We've got to recognise this, particularly with Marseilles in mind.

Exactly. Against poor opposition. Poor opposition we lost to 2 weeks ago. Tonight's results show just how important the result out in Turkey was.

              1 game at a time.

and he wasn't even fit but played anyway.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

i think this shows us that we can play a great passing game when the sissoko brothers aren't involved...

fantastic team effort to day, hopefully it will carry on to the weekend...

Well, there's no reason, injuries permitting, to change that much so hopefully it's same again on Saturday. We wont win 8-0 again but it'd be nice to see the same level of passing and movement.

                          One thing is very strange.

Most of us have moaned that we should play 4-2-3-1 with Babel playing higher up the pitch with Benayoun on the right side of the three with Gerrard in the middle.

                          -------------------xxxx
                          xxxx---------xxxx---------xxxx------xxxx
                          -----------xxxx---------xxxx-----------
                          -----Benayoun----Gerrard----Babel------
                          ------------------xxxx------------------

We have also moaned that Crouch should start upfront. Now when Rafa did everything that we moaned about we won 8-0.

Maybe he should be sacked and let us, the intelligent ones in here, pick the starting XI

Kewell in for Risse, Torres in for Voronin and that would be the team I'd start against Fulham!
                            Dare we believe
