Right, so these match winners i've been banging on about...

    See, that's what i mean.

Now we have 2. Better than one, granted.

Babel is potentially a third, but needs to develop.

For the love of god Rafa, go and buy a fourth. Then you can rotate to your heart's content, with 2 sitting on the bench and 2 on the pitch.

That's what'll turn 0-0 draws against the likes of Brum and Pompey into wins.

Sod all this 'hard working' bollocks. Match winners win you matches. There's a clue in the title. Let the water carriers carry water by all means. Just have the diamonds in amongst the rough too. Some weight can finally be lifted off Steven Gerrard's shoulders.

    Onwards...

Who you thinking of? What position? Upgrade on Kuyt?

I think Lucas could become a match wiiner with time just as muuch as Babel can

              Worked against Everton didn't it.

I've been impressed with him, he's gone quietly about his business and in the few cameos he's had, he's played well.

Was a great ball to Yossi for babel's first (besiktas). Didn't get as much attention as El Jefecito's to Yossi for crouch's goal but it was just as good.

Well either a striker or a winger. Proper impact positions, ones where players can win you games from. Centre mid is one too, but we're well covered there.

The winger issue has been a pain in the arse for some time. I still like Lennon, but his 'match winner' potential is just that, potential.

Despite the lack of goals (14 in 44 league games, same as Kuyt oddly enough) i suppose Berbatov is one possible and realistic option. I dont subscribe to the theory that we're likely to have Villa and Eto'o banging on our door, but berbatov might be a possibility.

There'll be others, i'm just too tired to give it some real thought.

But we sure as hell need another, because you cant rely on one all the time as we were doing with SG and even though we now have 2, Rafa's rotation policy means they wont always be on the pitch.

If we can have 4, then we can rotate and still have potent matchwinners on the park.

Far too early to say that. And i'm talking about a world class match winner on a consistent basis. Players of the level of Gerrard, Torres, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rooney, Fabregas etc.

Much as i hold out hope for Lucas and like the little i've seen so far, there's not really been any significant signs of this yet. Babel on the other hand has displayed the necessary raw materials on plenty of occasions already. If a good footballing brain develops, along with some discipline and the right kind of coaching, he can certainly become something along those lines.

Why are you posting on this thread? Others are interested in discussing it and are doing so. You've 'got the point'. Fine. Do one and let the rest of us discuss the topic.

                          Possibly and very possibly.

Neither are realistic options though sadly.

                            Jeremy Menez could be one.

You know I think our best option for a new match winner is in the form of a true #10. Away from home you might want to go for a voro type. But at home imagine a Riqueleme / Deco feeding the on rushing midfield / Torres.
