Well they have a deal agree to buy Curtis Davies at the end of the season for £8m or something so they are not short of cash.

I believe they did change the way that fees could be paid a few years ago.

Barry is a classic big fish in a little pond. Stick in the Liverpool side and I believe he would be quickly found out. His best position is clearly CM and we already have 1000 of those of which 995 are already better than he is.

I agree, get rid of Riise and replace him with some real quality, however, Barry is not that required quality at left back.

Barry is a reasonably solid defender but the reason I'd like to see him sign for us is that he is comfortable on the ball. If we are going to progress to the next level where we control games through controlling possession (as opposed to stifling the opposition through positioning) then we need defenders who can receive a the ball, control it then pass it accurately to another red shirt. At left back he could be a more robust version of Aurelio.
