Either way the point remains (considering we drew away at Pompey this term).

Although the BBC backs up the Pompey win here.

And in any case, those players ARE good enough to beat most of the other teams in the league at ANFIELD.

So what do you do? Obviously, you select the right games to rest the stars. Derby at home, Sunderland at home, Wigan at home etc.

                      Not PORTSMOUTH BLOODY AWAY.

                      WHY CANT ANYONE SEE THIS???

wenger and fergie were prepared to play their big players (straight after the 1st international) despite playing two internationals in a week rafa wasn't.
for example tevez and masherano flew round the world to play an international tevez played at the weekend masherano didn't.

rafa wasn't prepared to risk gerrard's toe and like I said torres had played two games in a week.
I can 'understand' rafa's caution with gerrard but for pity sake with regards to torres this was just the 5th league game ffs the irony being despite rafa's kid gloves torres has been injuried ANYWAY and again ironically enough he rushed torres back early to play arsenal.

utd played the day after, so tevez had more time to train with utd, rafa would probably have played masch if he had an extra day to prepare...

as for the arse game, torres claimed to be fit the week before but rafa decided not to rush him, torres claimed to be ready for arse game, and clearly he wasn't, i think it even surprised rafa how unfit he was during the game...

                            They didnt this season though.

And that's besides the point anyway, no one is saying that star players will GUARANTEE a win, but it's a FACT that you've more chance of winning WITH your best players than without.

                              They drew 1-1 this season.

Surely the most recent result is the one to focus on.

No it doesnt remain the same, because with their strongest side, they'd win more often than not. Nobody will ALWAYS win, but it's percentages.
