Were we really that bad last weekend?

Every article I've read about our performance against Fulham on Saturday has slammed our team performance...clumsy, listless, lackadaisical, whatever...and suggested that we were, for all intents and purposes, inept until Torres' opener.

Was I watching a different game than everyone else? I was quite happy with our performance. Fulham defended for all they were worth, but we still managed to carve out a few chances. Crouch's header off the bar, Yossi's miss on the rebound from Aurelio's free kick, another chance for Yossi that was saved by Niemi, Voronin's chance shortly before he came off...hardly a sluggish performance by us, especially in the second half.

I'm not exactly the type who sees things with rose-tinted glasses, as evidenced by my ranting after the Blackburn game. So, did anyone else see the same game I did?

I thought we played well. Controlled the game in the first half and had a couple of good chances. Brought our big guns off the bench in the second to win it. Job done.

We have steadily got better with each game and had Fulham under pressure for 90 mins.
We were unlucky not to score before Torres acme on.

I hope the international break doesn't impact on the momentum we had started to build

Agree with Quince and Foggy, thought we played well. Certainly a lot better than what it's been like in prev weeks

Yeah we played some good ****.
Upped the anti 2nd half and really got at them.
Was getting worried around the 75min mark but you always sensed a goal was on it's way...
            Cue El Nino Number 9.

yup seem to recall seeing a headline in the Telegraph on Monday saying soemthing along the lines of we were **** until Torres came on.
IMO I thought we played well, dominated proceedings, carved several chances out and if it was not for Nemi we would have been 3/4 goals up by the time Torres came on.

Remember these guys drew at Cheslea and gave Arsenal a real run for their money this season, we were taking them apart with ease, nemi is wasted in that team.

possilby, they have had a bit of a slide down the table, Healy isnt scoring, neither is Kamara. If nemi gets injured.suspended they will be ****ed.

You don't hear Arsenal getting slatted at all when in the recent past they have been 1-0 down until the last 10 mins then they win in the last 10 mins. Rafa is the man the press hate. I have just ignored it to be honest.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought we played well, didn't read a bad report to be honest, not that I read many.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                          * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

There were obvious problems with our play last week in that we struggled in wide areas what with Riise being way below par and Yossi playing as a striker.

That said when watching the game I was a lot more enthused by our play and efforts than against Blackburn or other home games such as Birmingham and Spurs.

I followed the match thread, which has generally had me calling the Samaritans in recent weeks and it was positive throughout. Maybe we were playing well, maybe Sid just doesn't post anymore. Whatever the reason I believed we would score.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.
