I don't think he gets the love he deserves from the Liverpool fans. Not compared to the likes of Thompson and Hansen who are also involved with the media.

His managerial reign and selling his story to the Sun is still remembered by many. He is still remembered but only as the great player he was. Ive a lot of time for Souey and he is probably one of the best media pundits about. I get the impression from him that he knows he ****ed up his relationship with Liverpool and would do anything to turn back the clock.

If he'd never managed us and didn't sell out to the Sun. Do you think he'd be up there w/Kenny? I do.

Like you say as a pundit, he's the smartest of them!

Revisionist pish. Would he replace them with the likes of paul Stewart?

        Tool.

Completly agree. Although he is up there with Kenny, Rushy, Sir Roger as one of the greatest to ever play for us, he doesnt get mentioned in the same breath. It is an absolute shame really and one day I hope he is welcomed back to the fold. Has he ever been back to Anfield as a fan? I dont remember him ever being spotted let alone come out on to the pitch at half time to do a presentation.

You are both right a) he would kick the **** out of the dead wood, literally, and then would b) replace them with worse (probablt) dead wood

            Souness, the enigma.

You cannot use the "If he hadnt managed us" line though.

He did and he made a ****ing cunt of it

Genius player no doubt, but the impression left on the club is of one who, despite knowing the history, thought he knew better and didnt.

                Don't disagree

Just wondering how much of a legend he would have been had he made 2 different choices? Hypothesising, you're allowed to do that on forums

Souness should go down as one of the greatest ever players.

In his three season as captain we won 3 league titles, 3 league cups and the European Cup.

I remember seeing an interview once with some former team mates (including Rushy and King Kenny) and both seemed to think that Souness should have been given more time and would have won the league with us as manager.

Not sure I agree, but deserves total respect as a player. Years before sky invented football and creamed themselves over Viera, Keane and now Stevie G, Souness was doing the same job, only better.
