It does cost an arm and a leg, though (particularly if you take into consideration pre and post match drinks etc). Plus, I'm a student so it's a case of beg, borrow or steal to pay for it. I always manage to find a way though.
I like the way you stole the line of a babyshambles song to make your point, its all in the Delivery.

I had a season ticket in the Kop when it was standing only. I had to give it up as we had three kids born in consecutive years (1992, 1993 and 1994) and I couldn't afford it anymore! I started using a mate called Bill's spare seat in the Main Stand next to the Director's Box. The spare ticket was his brother's who had moved to Bolton and would you believe a few months after I gave up my Kop ticket his brother decided to start going again!

Then one day in the summer of '97 ago I got a telephone call from the wife at work. She said "I've got some good news and some bad news for you."

I said, "go on give us the bad news first." She replied, cryptically: "I can't afford to buy it for you."

I didn't have a clue what she was on about but I played along. "OK, what can't you afford? And what's the good news?" I reckoned it must be some jewellery or clothes she wanted...

"Well... about four years ago when you had to give up your season ticket I put your name back on the waiting list at Anfield and they've just called me to say they've got one for you if you can go down straight away."

I was there with my cheque book less than an hour later! I think it cost me about £325 which I still couldn't afford but I was determined not to let the chance slip by again and I've now had my seat in the Lower Kremlyn for ten years!

The wife might be an old boot and a bit of a nag at times but she played a ****ing blinder there!

Im just waiting until the new stadium is built - im sure there will be a lot of season tickets available then. Im going to try to get 2 next to each other.

I'd quite happily pay £2500 for a ticket in my name..... You'd have to pay that because I just dont see any other way of getting one..... The waiting list is a waste of time these days!

It depends on how far you are from Anfield i suppose. It costs me £30 in petrol to get to Anfield and back. So £30 x 18 Home games = £540.

If it was say only £5 travel for each match, i would stretch to maybe £800.

I know everyone is going to say 'your not a true fan' but i also i find it a bit of a waste of money attending a home match which is live on TV, and lets face it all the big home games usually are.

I have a season ticket and I wouldn't get shut of it for anything. And yes it's far too expensive.

I'm not talking about how much they should be, I'm talking about how much it would take to buy one of somebody who had one.

for those that claim to be on the list since 1989 or whatever, how do you know you're on the list? I mean they must have had various computer systems installed since then and we all know how records get lost all the time. I remember losing 100 or client records when I changed our database over, I kept quiet and left the company shortly afterwards, with them none the wiser.

I would challenge them to find your details. Although how many people on the list have moved? changed phone numbers? got put away? no longer on this planet ie dead?

Is there really a 'waiting list' at all?

Go onto the official website and under the ticket section, there is a season ticket section. Send a covering letter all the address & details required are also listed there.

I've been on for two tickets since 1999 - if anyone gets one, please post the date you went on - it would be interesting to know where the front of the queue is...
