I dont think he's in danger of the sack purely from not getting through the CL group. Not if it happens on a one off basis anyway.

But it's his whinging about money that will endanger his position. He cant preside over a potential £20m loss of revenue and simultaneously ask for more money to spend. It just doesnt add up.

I'm sure he is that kind of bloke, he's looking from a business and money generating point of view. The crucial aspect will be if he can generate significant revenues (and profits) without the team being successful.

If he can, i'm sure he will. And that would mean he's not the right man for us.

But I don't think he was whinging about money I think he wanted to discuss his options in Jan. It seems he has NO budget so he can't plan things. Remember Hicks and Gillett said they wont talk about in's and OUT's until they are over in December.

If he doesnt get the money but quietly gets on with it, then i dont think he'd be in danger of the sack.

Rafa though, isnt the quietly quietly type, if he doesnt like what's going on, is he?

Yeah but you have to see it from G&H's point of view as well. Until they know what's gonna happen with the CL, they cant really commit to a budget, because it's all inter-related. I think that's why they wont discuss it until mid december - the Marseille game is december 11th, so by then they'll know either way.

A solution might be an 'option 1' budget based on CL qualification and then a contingency budget if it goes wrong in the CL. Whether they're looking at this type of solution or not, i obviously dont know.

Well, you clearly have no clue about football today.
His position will be in danger if we dont qualify, then he will have to get a top 2 spot to save his job.

Surely that should have been done at the start of the season?

Rightly or wrongly, i dont think the possibility of going out of the CL in the group stage would've even been considered at the start of the season.

                      You sir are an idiot.

We are not ****ing Real Madrid.

If we don't qualify for the next round of the CL Rafa's budget might be less but to say his job is insecure smacks of someone who has an agenda against him.

I disagree they should plan for every eventuality.

Of course they SHOULD. It doesnt occur to me that they did though.

I agree that they should've done, but that's why i said 'rightly or wrongly'.

Yes we are LFC and any manager who wouldnt qualify for the CL 2nd phase would be in danger.

I think if I were in G+H's shoes, looking at a team which reached the CL final twice in the last three seasons and then had £40+ mill spend reinforcing that team...you'd figure you're on fairly safe ground assuming progress out of the group stages.

                              A defensive mid for £18m?
