I said I am not sure about the sacking story, but am sure that the relationship has broken down.

    Maybe repairable I don't know!
Just pointing out that nowhere in your original post did you suggest that his sources had any link at all to Gillett and Hicks. In which case I'm a lot more comfortable.

It's obvious to anyone that the relationship has broken down. It's happened before though, and hopefully they can fix it. If Bascombe's source was close to the owners I'd be much more worried. And I'm incredibly worried as it is!

I am saying that Benitez will have fed Chris the story about the relationship breaking down and the current state.

Like I said, I am unsure who the director / G&H sacking source - it certainly won't be Parry for sure.

If you chose to be ignore the state of play then that is up to you. Rafa has previosuly fed info to Bascombe and Houllier did the same when he was in charge (read Fowler's book to see that).

I don't take any satisafction from these stories, but I belive there is a serious serious problem.

Benitez will not walk as he forgoes a £6m payoff - would you because I wouldn't.

My main concern is LFC and not whether you belive my info. However, 2 other people have backed up the situation so no smoke....!

Not beliving me won't make the story not true! i hope it isn't true!

i take issue with this relationship breaking down business, it's just paper speak to make things sound more serious than they are

let's just say they've had argument, couples have arguments all the time they don't always walk away, ffs i'd have walked away about a hundred times if that was the case

Could it be that Rafa has told CB the state of the relationship and CB has then put 2 and 2 together to make a great story (in media terms) to sell papers and impress his new bosses (in what must be quite a pressure driven business)

That's what I meant..."their working relationship at the moment isn't what it should be" is probably a better way of putting it. Hopefully it is a row that can be repaired though.

Unbeaten, with a crucial Champions League game coming up, and we have all this speculation though. Madness.

It will make Rafa and the team more resolute.Everybody loves a seige mentality.

In my opinion (and I have no inside knowlege), I think Rafa is trying to force the hand of the owners. Almost a 'back me financially or sack me' by going through he media (in this case Bascombe).

Benitez will know the majority of fans will side with him and not he owners therefore giving him more weight.

I think this is a dangerous game as I have no idea what they will do. I hope the article is wrong in terms of sacking but I wouldn't discount it.

However, the fact remains this takeover has been a joke from start to finish and we have ended up with a bad deal for LFC. I really hope I am wrong on this but the financial facts don't add up!

Anyone can make a guess as to what will happen next. given the arguing that has been conducted through the media, it is easy to come to that conclusion. But I also think it is a lazy conculsion. Just my opinion.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I know I am not - I was actually just stating that Bascombe still is very well connected at Anfield when everyone was questioning his reliabilty!

I have not claimed to have any inside info as I don't - All I do is go every week to Anfield like the rest of us.

My mate in the local media tells me about the sources and not stories as these are highly guarded.

That makes more sense. If Rafa is behind this then I'm worried about his childishness though. All that wearing a tracksuit because he is "just a coach" lark doesn't seem like him at all, and isn't the way a serious manager should behave.

Personally, I'm not too worried whether the new owners put their own money in or do it through financing. Like the Glazers at the scum, they'll only make money if we are succesful. I am worried about the lines of communication between the owners and the manager though, and they need to sort it out so that we don't have these bizarre problems in future.

Lads, lets not have another insider pissing contest, whether you believe sources/Bascombe or not you're not going to change your posistion based on what is written on here so just cool your jets and lets start treating each other like grown ups eh?

None of us want it to be true and that is why we are reacting like we are-denial. But whether it's true or not, we're just going to have to let it play out and see what the result is.

What I will say is it is clear to me that Rafa's position will ultimately depend on results and results alone, therefore we should all start supporting the frickin team especially on match days, will them to win and stabilise Rafa's position.

If anyone knows whats next, then it will be the Echo. It's always been that way. They may not be right, but I bet that have more information than anyone else.

But common sense says to me, they can not sack Rafa over what he has been saying, just what exactly has he said to get sacked?. Nothing IMO. Hicks and Gilett need to be educated to what Rafa is all about, what European football is all about and to what Rafa means to the fans, the latter being what the have the best idea of. IMO there is no way they are sacking Rafa. Not unless there are more developments.
