Rafa, like the rest of us needs to understand that the Americans do not have bottomless pockets , and if we dont qualify for the next stage of the Champions League there wont be as many dollars floating around because of that.

A lot of people here are worried about the club being laden with debt with the new stadium etc, be intresting to see how people would react if the Americans borrowed 100 million to purchase new players and put that debt on the club.

Fair enough, Not saying they should borrow to buy players but we have only had one transfer window with them and it took an outburst from Rafa to get a reaction that time, maybe he feels he needed to do it again as he seemingly wasn't getting anywhere through the normal channels.

I think we need to see the owners put their money where their mouths are for a couple more windows yet and I think we would all be up arms if
a: Rafa didn't kick up and make sure he got a transfer kitty
b: if they didn't back him in the right way, not an open cheque book but a reasonable kitty.
BTW the club being in debt to build the new stadium doesn't bother me as most business's have to have debt to survive and expand and the return from such an investment will far out weigh it's cost/repayments.

Cant argue with those comments, company I work for has 12 billion dollars in debt yet they are making money.

Did he get a call I thought it was an e-mail to the club and a press release. Not good enough IMO to calm the waters and these things can escalate and fester.
I would agree not meltdown point but needs dealing with sooner rather than later.

It`s probably been dealt with already,They are not children and know the importance of this situaion. The sucess of the club is directly related to it`s income. The Yanks are buisness men, thev`e had their kick in the Arse from Rafa and know where we all stand.Sorted.IMHO.

                  LFCOnline are reporting he's quit.

They do say 'dubious source' though.

Not a ****ing clue mate, never even been on there before, only heard the name of it, a lad on ours linked it.

The fact they say dubious source makes me think it's ****e, add the fact Rafa will get a ****ing huge payoff if he's sacked & I find it very unbelievable.

                        Rafa walks?

This was on Lfconline, so I'd be a bit dubious about it's reliability, but anyway:

                        Benitez has gone?
                        By Adam Bryant

                        Sunday 25th November 2007

We have heard (from dubious sources) that Rafael Benitez has walked out of Anfield.
The Liverpool boss has been in conflict with club owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks regarding funds for signings during the January transfer window.

It was believed that the matter would be resolved when the parties met to discuss the future plans in December.

But, if the rumours are to be believed, it looks like Benitez has lost patience with the chairmen and decided to walk.

We stress that at the moment there is no confirmation of these events, but expect developments on Monday.

I really can't see what wrong Rafa have done in all this.

He made some comments in the media but he really didn't had any other option when G&H don't talked to him. He can't just sit and do nothing until the middle of next month.

Then Hicks made a really stupid comment in the media about that Rafa should concentrate on coaching and training the team, that comment really says it all that he don't know how the transfer system works and how you do to be successful in european football.

All Rafa asked G&H was that they let him do his job in the best possible way and they say no to that. Really bloody stupid answer.

Rafa didn't ask for any money. He want to sell some players and they don't allow him to do that, again, bloody stupid answer.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
