You do mateOriginally posted by rushscored4 View PostFurther to my previous point, Arsenal are top of the league both in terms of football and wealth. Do their fans care that the Emirates is a soulless bowl with no atmosphere? Does anybody else call their stadium ****? Or does anybody remember the alternative and more expensive design Arsenal rejected in the late 1990s? Do they ****...

Thanks for the info Iain mate, although I will say a lot of people I know who are not LFC fans were aware of the HKS design but if we get a decent stadium somewhere in between the 2 designs with 70k with a view to expand also I'll be happy.
There is no doubt that the HKS design would be cracking though.

That's a fairly clear denial isn't it.Originally posted by The_Milkman View PostPARRY: WE ARE COMMITTED TO NEW STADIUM
Liverpoolfc.tv 15 December 2007
Following press speculation on Saturday morning concerning Liverpool's new stadium in Stanley Park, Rick Parry today said: 'We remain absolutely committed to the building of a new stadium which will improve on the original design'
Chief Executive Rick Parry told liverpoolfc.tv: "We remain absolutely committed to the building of a new stadium which will improve on the original design inherited by Tom Hicks and George Gillett when they came into the club.
"It will have a capacity of around 70,000, be higher quality and have a substantially increased Kop which will form the centrepiece of the new plans.
"Ever since the original designs were unveiled, we have been continuously revising and refining with the intention of delivering the best possible solution to our future needs.
"The situation in the credit markets has not affected our design, programme, or implementation of building our new stadium. The priority has always been to build a winning team on the pitch and everything else we do is geared towards that."

Isn't HKS's 60k with expansion to 75k-77k? RS4 mentions a straight 70k with AFL then suddenly Parry suddenly changes to 70k aswell. It seems obvious what he means but guess we'll have to wait and see.Originally posted by Steve101 View PostWell you can take what you want from that (and we al know people will!!!!!) so lets not have a 'he meantAFL' or 'he meant HKS' debate!!! one thing it does do is rubbish some of the 'stdium scrapped' stories appearing today, and therefore dent the credibility of those 'journalists.

unfortunately. Having said that if it is improved enough and saves a lot of money it may be for the better. Still a massive PR disaster.
Confirms for me the yanks are not as capable now as they were due to the dollar v pound and credit crunch.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Improve being the operative word.
So no real denial then.
The situation in the credit markets has not affected our design,

I am sure it will take around 2 years to get planning permission for a 70k stadium. Hence why we planned on applying for it while we were building the 60k stadium and hoping it would be approved so when it opened it would be 76k or wateva.Originally posted by Chris View PostIsn't HKS's 60k with expansion to 75k-77k? It will be a joke if we scap the HKS plan and start again...
Think i would cry

It doesn't totally discredit the stories, the jurno's have been saying the new design has been scrapped and the statement from Parry clearly states we are looking at improving on the original design inherited by H&G. The new stadium was a scrapping of the old design not improvement, I would have to say I believe that we are going to build the bowl.Originally posted by Steve101 View PostWell you can take what you want from that (and we al know people will!!!!!) so lets not have a 'he meantAFL' or 'he meant HKS' debate!!! one thing it does do is rubbish some of the 'stdium scrapped' stories appearing today, and therefore dent the credibility of those 'journalists.

I've said all along that I have no issue with changing the stadium design once we still have a minimum capacity of 70k. We the fans make liverpool football club what it is. The atmosphere we generate for each home game is what makes Anfield famous!! I don't want to move into a stadium if the touted 500 million costs would straddle us with an unmanagable debt. There has to be a balance between building the stadium and the team!!Dare we believe
