If G & H had announced this summer that they had asked AFL to revise their plans, make it more exciting with a bigger Kop and a 70,000 capacity we would all have been thrilled. However, they proudly presented the HKS 'spaceship' design which blew us all away so now we're disappointed! It's all about managing expectations...

By the way, from what I've been told, the revised AFL design does not look like a bowl any more.

Talk about spin. I thought Punch and Judy were businessmen. The financial markets saw the credit crunch coming months ago yet we pressed on with the new design. These old buggers have done nothing impressive yet. If they were really the best option and the best the club could attract as potential buyers it doesn't say much for how we presented the product. Has been a season to forget so far.

It looks like they really didn't looked at our books that much or tried to make a good business plan before they bought us.

Everything seems to be have been done in a rush when it comes down to the takeover.

First we buy the club and then we take it from there.

All I know is that both firms have been asked to revise their original plans and the board will decide which is the best option. AFL are confident because their design is a much cheaper option (up to £200m cheaper) but it may well be the Dallas firm which wins the contract.

Either way, we will end up with a different design to the original AFL 'Parrybowl' or the HKS 'Spaceship'. Because both will have a higher capacity of 70,000 I'm pretty certain we would have to re-apply (again) for planning permission as the local transport links and infrastructure would need to be improved for the extra 9,000 to 10,000 visitors.

Because let's be honest to me they've done nothing wrong.

What would people prefer, that we build a ridiculously expensive stadium that would take years to pay for itself, or build a cheaper stadium with the same capacity. What makes sense?

The fact that some on here think they know how to run a football team better than these guys is laughable.

As Rushie says, let's wait and see what the final design they choose looks like, and even then we'll have to wait until it's built, and hosts a proper game before we know if it's any good.

Yeah that's why I suspect they will go for 60,000 and then once that is given permission apply for the extra 10,000. It would be the quicker way of doing it.

Will they be able to start building it based on the acceptance of a 60,000 capacity granted and then apply for it to be a 70,000 capacity when they are building it?

Thanks for that. What will be will be I guess and we'll have t wait and see yet more new designs. No doubt planning will take an age to get aswell with the capacity rising to 70,000.
