Very true, Gillett if he was on the panel obviously disagreed if the reports are correct. You would wonder what will come of them alright.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

To be honest I'll be amazed if we ever get it built under these two anyway. Ignoring financial concerns there seems to be serious discord at the heart of the club if everyone was against this design yet it got chosen. Is Hicks bullying his way into full control?Originally posted by Skullflower View Postunworkable, how?To be honest, I'm too knackered to post any more on the subject tonight. When I say unworkable I don't think HKS have ever designed a 'soccer' stadium before and there are areas of the ground that look nice but I'm told are completely useless such as the unusable seats I mentioned.Originally posted by Skullflower View Postbtw, i think that is exactly what hks have achieved here. they've obviously got a lot more talent amongst their ranks imo.
i'm worried that the afl design is even in circulation, as it may become a back up plan.
If I get more time tomorrow I'll illustrate what I mean from what I was told tonight.
Finally, Skullflower, lots of people were asking for the AFL designs on here so they could gauge the competition. I still think it could be an option as DIC have used AFL before as I've said in this thread. So, essentially, if you back DIC against Hicks you could be choosing AFL over HKS.

Id like to see more of each to be honest. There is a valid point being made about HKS not filling in the corners proper. I think they designed a really good looking stadium, I just want it to preform to its best on the inside.Originally posted by Skullflower View Postall's i'm saying is, this is a ****ing beast

and this is merely decent

I am no expert in acoustics, but you do get the sense that alot of sound will be lost. I could be wrong though.
Anyone know why the AFL design has nothing dividing the main tier kop and the HKS one does?.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

Can't agree with that at all, American football stadiums tends to be very parry bowl in design.Originally posted by rushscored4 View PostAs I've said all along, the revised AFL design isn't as radical as HKS Mark II but I like it just as much and it would probably have been a better British football stadium whereas the HKS design wouldn't look out of place as an American football stadium.

This looks good I have to admit. When all terraces are together it will make much more brooding atmosphere and if there are back walls the noise will just bounce back creating more noise.
That KOP looked quite childish in that other picture but when you look at this picture, the main problem will be that there is no bench for the players and management team.

HKS are building the Dallas Cowboys Stadium i Arlingtong, Texas - which may play a part in Hicks thoughts: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallas_Cowboys_New_Stadium - and the Lucas Oil Stadium: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucas_Oil_Stadium
There also is a man called Gerry W. Hicks among the principals and senior vice presidents of HKS. Could there be any sort of family/friendship-related relation, that just makkes Hicks WANT the HKS-design?? (http://www.hksinc.com/)- - - - -

i can see 2 corners that can be filled in either side of the kop.Originally posted by Michael View Postdont worry about the planning .... they can get that in time..... then add the 11,000 extra seats later on..... space has been left for them!

You'll probably find that the designs on display are already for the max capacity.
And the corners will not be filled in. The glass is there to stay, and it will also help with the accoustics i would guess, forcing the sound down on to the pitch, rather than allowing it to spread out sideways.

Unfortunately it's hard to forget about something when it's blatently obvious (the glass). However, the accoustics part is based on my understanding of how sound waves work, and may be subject to being shot down in flames by someone more knowledgable.
