    It's getting interesting

So Arsenal fail to win at Newcastle.

Every week is must-win and this weekend is no different. We're now 7 points off the top but, assuming we win our (home) game in hand, we're 2nd - with the best goal difference.

This weekend Chelsea & Man United have home bankers against Sunderland and Derby respectively - emphasising the importance of winning at Reading. Arsenal travel to Boro, which is almost as safe a bet as our other two rivals.

The following weekend, of course, is what Sky Sports have yet again labelled 'Grand Slam Sunday'.

Having failed to beat both Chelsea & Arsenal at home, it's arguably more imperative than usual that we take 3 points off United, while Arsenal & Chelsea cut each other's throats.

By the end of play next Sunday, we could (and should) be a clear 2nd in the table - and a worst-case scenario of being 7 points behind Arsenal with a game in hand.

The final group of games before Christmas is very interesting.

    Liverpool v Portsmouth
    Blackburn v Chelsea
    Blue****e v Scum
    Arsenal v Spurs

By which time, we ought to be breathing right down Arsenal's necks.

Boxing Day sees us travel to Derby, while Arsenal are at Fratton Park.

This is basically a long-winded, stoned 'thinking aloud' ramble about the next few weeks and where we could be. We have every chance of going into the New Year top of the table or thereabouts, despite being written off left, right and centre.

The longer the public and the mass media focus on the other three, the better for us. We're sneaking up on the rails, almost unnoticed. The Reds are coming up the hill, boys!

        No sympathy posts please.

I was gonna say in the initial post...there's not much you can say in reply to this, other than a bit of cheerleading perhaps.

We are where we are having played to about 85% of our potential, IMO. We can, should and probably will improve as the season goes on, as we've tended to do under Rafa.

        I'm quite excited.

To be honest i think under-fire Boro will give Arsenal a bit of a run for their money

I hope you're right but....percentages....Arsenal will probably tear 'em apart. Boro are really poor.

I think it will come down to who has the least injuries to key players.

Arsenal had Van Persie, Hleb, Fabregas & Flamini all out tonight, hence the draw. No matter how strong the squad is, if injuries strike to key players, then its major problems.

If we keep Torres & SG fit, then we will be there or thereabouts come May.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

plus, get kewell fit then these three could make the difference IMO
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

I really am at a loss to explain the huge implications on here that Kewell's a player who is having some kind of massive impact...

                    I just dont see it.

I think it's been over-egged a bit, but it's purely and simply down to the fact that he's (still) our best left winger. We're a better side when he's in it, whether you like Kewell or not.

I think that's why...but I agree insofar as he's not a world-beater and won't shape our season on his own.

Would I have got married during the football season ?

I do like Kewell, dont get me wrong.

I just see a few people acting as if he's in the same league as torres and gerrard, when it comes to being an impact player - he really isnt in the same ballpark.

Kewell is one of our most clever players. He knows when to attack and when to defend and that is the key for a wide player.

You more or less never see Kewell leave any holes behind him, like Riise do time after time when plays.
