Gerrard has put in a few much better corners lately and, as has been pointed out, we've even scored from a few.

But it's still not enough. In each of those games in which we scored from an SG corner, he wasted more corners than not. It is frankly unbelieveable the number of times he hits the first man.

He was the same in the recent bunch of England games. Shocking.

I used to take corners when I played and I swear I hit consistently better corners than Gerrard!

Strangely the best corner taker we've had in recent years was Gonzalez IMO.

For me Gerrard should be in the box. A big strapping six footer, powerful in the air. It's a no-brainer. And if not 'in the mix', then loitering outside the box to smash in any loose balls.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Unfortunately, our Stevie loves the applause coming his way as he swaggers over to take corners.

For me it's simple - Xabi should be taking them and Stevie should be on the edge of the box for two reasons - snapping up knockdowns on the volley etc. and if we get caught by a breakout he's yuour man to get back quickly from that position.

      It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
      Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'

**** me are you serious..?? He deserves to swagger as much as he wants to after the countless times he's bailed LFC outta trouble or singlehandedly won us the game.

For me it's simple.. too many of you choose to go the 'armchair manager role' route without actually realising that Rafa sees the players train, day in and day out. He says WHO takes the pens, corners and free kicks, if he's choosing Stevie for the past 3 seasons then YOU KNOW there's a more than good enough reason. Corners aren't the easiest things to take in football and a few of you aren't realising that point. It's not a given to always come close to scoring from every corner.

Your too good to be true, can't take the ball off you you got a heavenly touch, you pass like Sounness to rush. And when we're pissed in the bars we thank the Lord that your ours

Gerrard needs to score at least 15 this year. If you look at all of the recent Premiership winners they all have had a high scoring midfielder - it also takes so much pressure off the strikers.

Besides that he's in my fantasy footy team!

Agree with that. Kewell is often used as a short play/decoy with us and I do not like it. He along, with Hyypia and Torres/Crouch, should be a target for the corner/cross as he is a very good header of the ball.

Especially now as although he is playing well he needs to score tobuild up more confidence.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

in a nutshell the two most important points made all week
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

totally agree with that (excwpt for the part about you taking corners)

For me, I'd have Xabi or Riise taking turns to lurk outside with Xabi taking his fair share mixed with Pennant/aurelio etc and nearly always have SG attacking the ball.

the stats don't lie in the case of corners and it is a FACT that he hits the first man with more than any other corner taker in the league (probably the world actually) but for some reason you think it's diferent in training! I doubt he even bothers taking them in training!

I agree about the fact that he used to hit the first man more often than not. Haven't you thought that this could be what Rafa has been working on in training.. all of a sudden he's pinging in some deadly corners..
