Babel and Torres

I was crying out for Babble to come on for Torres last night and when he did I thought Yes !! perhaps Rafa just might have a striking role in mind for him long term. Although he does not look completely comfortable on both roles right now,I can see him doing most damage as a front man, he can beat Torres for pace FFS, a little more confidence and he will destroy teams just like El Ninio

I also think Rafa thinks his long term future is upfront, but he isn't ready to play on his own there or be the focal point of our attack, IMO. Henry was a complete player, as he could play with his back to goal and as a flyer running onto through balls etc ... With time, I'm sure Babel could become an even better player though.

Babel's future is up front, I wasn't keen on that idea before because he wasn't a very good finisher at Ajax, but it seems confidence was the reason for this. He's a really composed footballer when he's got confidence, and it looks like he's enjoying his role at the moment as a super sub.

Have been saying for a while that I would love to see Babel start up top with Torres as it has the potential to be an explosive partnership. That said, Babel is still a bit raw and I think Rafa has handled him very well - he is proving to be a very effective substitute, coming on late against tiring defences and he has got a few goals of late as a result. This will improve his confidence no end & I think he has the potential and raw materials to be an excellent player for us

I probably agree with that, give him this season as an impact player. I'd expect him to be looking for a consistent starting place in the first XI next season though.
