Yup a few more top class players of the ilk of Torres and we'd be laughing our way to the title.....if we stay static and just spend money on 2nd/3rd choices on the cheap will continue to plod alog in thePrem finishing 3rd/4th
When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........

You'll never sway their opinions fella. Fact is there's numerous reasons and money ain't the top one anymore since we brought in the quality of Torres, Benny and Babel.

Alonso would have been key today. I dare say we;d have scored at least twice today if Xabi, Crouch and Babel played from the start.

Then it's a classic arguement as to why we should be buying quality rather than quantity. Too many Pennants, Crouchs, Kuyts, Voronins & Bellamys and not enough Torress & Mascheranos. If we have an opportunity to offload any of them (and Carson & Sissoko) we shoud take it and buy 2 or 3 top quality players.

That's got absolutely nothing to do with the discussion. The material facts are that our team cost half of what united's did. We won't compete until we compete in the spends. We lost he game to a player that Rafa wasn't given the money to buy.

              No it doesn't.

Why not bring Arsenal and Wenger into it then?

Because then it makes a mockery of the arguement.

So c'mon lads, what is it to be, do we want a billionaire spend-a-lot like Roman, or should we let Rafa get on with it?

I think we need to wait and see what happens in Janaury and next summer, re spending. Who knows who much we'll spend and who we'll bring in. The Yanks have only had one window so far in charge, and can anybody in their right mind complain with our transfer business last summer? We bought 3 young quality players for roughly £40m.

What? I dunno what planet you're on mate. It has everything to do with the discussion. we're discussing all sorts of factors here.

Do me a favour mate, since you've such a big problem with Rafa, go start a petition to the yanks saying you want him gone and see how many signatures you get on it. Guarantee you wont reach anywhere near 40 let alone 40,000

Arsenal have spent substantial funds over the years. Wenger has also been supported for an extended period. You win things by doing 2 things. First you cough up the money, second you don't chop and change managers. If rafa goes it will set this club back 10 years. Uttlerly idiotic.

But we do spend, it's just that we've bought some high priced turkeys: Cisse £14m, Kuyt £10m, Diouf £10m, even Heskey at £11m wasn't exactly value.

I'll repeat again; it's not about how much you spend but who you buy.

Of course having the resources to buy Messi or Kaka helps, but it's not the be all and end all.

Niall, it's unfair to bring Wenger into this because he's been building his academy and system of play for 11 years, plus ARSEnal's directors are far better than Parry and co. ..................... apples and oranges mate

So how much did his Valencia sides cost compared to Barca, Real et al?

Are you trying to say he outspent them there?

It's a combination of the two, sometimes you get killer deals but the big clubs in Europe more often than not have to spend the big bucks

Have you got some kind of pea-brain? I'll spell it out for you. Answering a question about the relative spending of 2 clubs with an opinion about substitions is deliberately going off-topic.

Remember Barcelona bough the likes of Messi at a very young age fro nothing. When was the last time LFC nurtered a young star through?
