Thanjk you.

That's got absolutely nothing to do with the discussion. The material facts are that our team cost half of what united's did. We won't compete until we compete in the spends. We lost he game to a player that Rafa wasn't given the money to buy.
In 2005-2006 we finished a point behind Utd in the league. We outspent them in the Summer yet finished miles adrift last season. Can you explain this please if it's all about the money?

Rafa isn't good enough to do this then?
He always said he didn't need fortunes to win.
Wenger has proven it.
No let's see if Rafa can do it too.
Sure if he could buy Kaka for £50m that would surely help.
But then why not buy then next Kaka type at 17 for £5m?
Milan bought him at 20 for £6.5m quid.
Milan sold Shevchenko for £30m to Chelsea.
Which club has been sensible and successful?
I don't see why we can't run the club that way and be successful.
Or would you rather we spent money we didn't have or that we were bought by an owner who'd spend us to the league?
I suspect most of you would.
What are United doing mate ?
If they are doing it, then we need to compete with them off the park.
I think Rafa's spending on youth players has been brilliant if you look at the youth side this season. He's changed the system there because he's had the full power with Heighway going.
If we're gonna apply the same system that we're doing now, he needs another 3 years to maybe catch up.
The intensity of the premier league means it's more difficult to win than La Liga, and certainly if we're doing well in Europe also, meaning more games. He's outwitted Wenger and Fergie in Europe by far since he's been here.

Nial, can't you see this what Rafa is trying to do now? It will take a few years though to see the results of this but in the interim we need the quality players to fill the gap just like Wenger had Adams, Seaman, Dixon, Bergkamp and Overmars. The two scenarios are light years apart.

They splashed 18m pounds on an average player, Carrick, but won the league. They already had a quality team. We reached the CL final though.

But my point still stands.
Why do these quality players have to cost loads-a-money?
I've made the point that if you look in the right places you don't have to spend fortunes to improve the side now.
gutted, we got it so wrong, ffs their keeper didn't make one real save. We can all argue all day long about money or lack of it BUT that's easily solved. Rafa sell the **** you've bought/inherited.
Carson 10 million
Riise 6 million
Momo 8 million
Pennant 6 million
Kuyt 8 million
Voronin 2 million
Crouch 10 million
That's 50 million there. Infact sell them all in January and those left in the summer. If all we get is an extra 20 million in the summer then thats 70 million. ffs why do we continue with players that should be playing at best in a top 6 side?
Time to draw a line on our transfer history, sell and use that money to buy quality!

I agree with you mate, but you have to add a bit of context to it.
Wenger is the absolute best at it, Fergie, Rijkaard, Ancelotti etc. or any other big name manager can math him when it comes to finding gems.
As I said previously he could take the chances because he had a solid base to build from to buy him time in his first six years with Adams, Bergkamp etc.
I would say since Rafa has only made one major **** up which is Kuyt, but Wenger did have Jeffers didn't he?
