I'd have taken falling at the semis if it meant winning the league. I think any other person associated with LFC would feel the same, apart from perhaps Rafa given his love of Europe.

And personally I felt our team was just as good as Man Utd's at the end of 2005-2006. The main problem was we spent money on two fairly average strikers to replace two fairly average strikers and didn't buy cover for Kewell, instead going for Pennant and hoping that Gonzalez and Auerlio would do the business on the left. We also abandoned Crouch and decided to play a different style with two more mobile strikers.

If you look at who we bought that Summer it does down on a par with Houllier's 2002 Summer of Shame. Kuyt? Derided by most LFC fans these days. Bellamy? Gone. Auerlio? Always injured. Gonzalez? Enjoying life in Spain. Pennant? Lack of end product.

People say Rafa needs more cash but that Summer's transfer dealings would give anyone cause for concern.

We don`t need to spend anymore.today proved that with a bit of luck in the box we`d have been better than them.

A talent as good as Tevez (in terms of experience and instant quality), Nani, Anderson (who's done fabulously today) cost a lot of money.

I'm not sure we could have the same quality for a fraction of the money. Anderson has been playing in Europe for a while, as well as Nani, while Lucas was an unknown quantity and he doesn't seem to be ready to play back to back premiership matches yet.

Anderson has played 13 or 14 matches on the bounce and we could all see his quality.

His buys this past summer means he's re-deemed himself in that regard.

Now he just needs to get rid of the rest of those dud buys.

We've made a profit on Bellamy. Error quickly rectified. We've also sold Gonzalez for roughly the same amount. As for Aurelio, he's a quality player nonetheless and he a was free transfer.

Don't exaggerate. You seem to have an agenda against Rafa.

Tevez and Anderson were nullified today and Nani couldn`t even get a game.

                Why not?

                Milan bought Kaka for £6.5m.

                Arsenal got Fabregas for nothing.

Who knows Lucas might become a £25m rated player in a couple of years.

Credit to the scumfaced demented one, he seems to have spent well, but that doesn't mean we need to outspend them to beat them.

                  Behave yourself.

He made a valid observation. Why not just leave it at that?

Anderson was very good. He and Hargreaves were full value against Gerrard and Mascher, but the latter two took control in the second half. To play his first United / Liv match at 19, after 13 games in United's first team (and after redeeming himself after being poor in a Carling cup match), shows his character and quality. Money well spent.

It will be more difficult because of that because they're buying ready made players + with the potential to be even better. Simple.

erm. tevez scored the winning goal and Anderson was highly effective as a defensive midfielder.

I saw a different game to you.the stats say we had 68% of possesion with our midfield dominating theirs constantly.

we spent all day robbing them.
