Spending money doesn't guarantee anything. That's my point.

Rafa's closed the gap while they continue to spend.

    I honestly don't see a direct correlation.
Yeah, but at the highest levels it's the margins in the talent available that make all the difference isn't it? That talent costs. At present we're spending like a top 4 or 5 team with a bloody good manager that is maximising through shrewd tactics what he's got available to him. To get top 2 we need so spend.

      My point.

As for what I've highlighted - there isn't a man in the world who'd give some money to the club after a mouthful like that. Get a grip FFS.
Let`s hope they don`t take umbrage to an internet supporter.

You too, as I don't see how my point of view changed in this thread. I was pretty consistent all the way.

So, to finish this and to give you a summary, I've said that to consistently keep up with United, we need to spend as much, if not more money than them. Unless rafa is a genius and buys better or players as good as theirs on a fraction of the money.

          I know what is easier.

Investment was supposed to make us stronger in the transfer market but we've been outspent. That is all. Instead of investing in a grossly extravagant stadium, our policy should have been to provide money for team building as well as securing our long term future in building a larger stadium.

I've said that since the beginning and if we're indeed scrapping the stadium plans, I may be somewhat right.

I never said he good a good game. You said he was lucky, I pointed out that he took his goal well and was effective within the manure defensive formation they were playing. Which he was. There wasn't a single player on either side today who had a good game. There rarely is in such matches. What cannot be denied is that when he needed to be effective he was - scoring the winning goal. If he'd been nullified as you put it, he wouldn't have scored.

That is never going to happen. There is no way on earth that G&H are going to spend as much as United every season. Apart from the goal which was one moment in the match the teams were pretty much equal, and they have spent consistently more than us for years.

Today's game was very close. Last year we were the better side but further behind the mancs in the big scheme of things. We are closer this year. We'll find out by March how close.

There's not a lot but we still need to do more in the transfer market to overtake them. Rafa thinks the same, I'm sure.

He's done okay. Not one of last Summer's buys would make it into my personal First XI though.

All ManU fans know they were lucky today!!!!!

Take off your rose coloured blinkers. United came with the same gameplan as always with the same result as always. They nullified our attacking players, sat deep and let us play in front of them. We had loads of possesion and did little with it. You make your own luck. They took their chance and frustrated us for 90 minutes. It was a classic away performance not too dissimilar to how we play on the road.

Would be good if Chelsea sink this free kick.
