I'm certain Rafa won't want to take any chances and he'll know Torres is our only hope up front if we want to win games. I'll hurt myself if I ever see a forward line of Kuyt and Voronin again.

But we travel to Man citeh in a few days(i think) and he HAS to have Torres in that game. Maybe he'll start both and be rested for Wigan

I feel clinically depressed when I see that forward line.

Torres won't play against Luton. He'll play in the next three games I'm certain.

Think it'll rear it's ghastly head against Derby.

Was a good effort from the lads. The one thing I would say is that Pompy have a very athletic front line and I can't help but feel that we lack someone of that type in our current team. I'd gladly swap Kuyt for Benjani, for exampe.

so Howard_LFC do you think we should see Mascherano or still not convinced?

I hope not. Kuyt is bad enough, and Voronin might be the Russian Heski.
                    Liverpool FC über alles.

I don't know - somebody tries to stir up a debate and offer a different opinion than the crowd and one game later here I am being asked to justify my opinions....

Credit where it's due - I thought he was excellent yesterday. I thought it was one of his best games for us. But if you're asking me would I spend £17m on a holding midfielder whilst we are crying out for creativity and width then the answer will remain 'no'.

Thats exactly what i said last week.

He is a cracking player, and if we could keep him i would be delighted. But at the moment we should be spending £17m on a top quality attacking player, not another defensive mid. I still think the sales of Carson, Riise and Momo will more than take care of the Masher fee.

so hopefully we can get both Masher and a second striker/winger (Silva would be nice)

I cant see him resting Torres either, he is becoming the new Stevie G in terms of winning games and helping the team play well. Play him and gerrard as much as possible.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                          * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

If Torres was to get injured we'd adjust.

Crouch would become a permanent fixture in the side and I think he & Kuyt could do the business if we played to Crouch's strengths (i.e. getting crosses into the box).

We recorded 82 points with Crouch hardly scoring but being a key figure up front. Even with Torres we'll do well this season to get that many points.
