he's talked before, i'll judge him on his actions. As the old saying goes truth is the daughter of time.

i actually thought proposing on the pitch was poor form but each to their own is suppose.

"It is their club,'' Hicks said. "The last family had it 51 years, and it's been around 115. Hopefully, we'll have it for a long time as well.''

Hicks had some interesting things to say in that article. A bit different to the usual scuttlebutt and rumours on the various websites about what he is alleged to have said. He aslo appears to be on top of what the media are up to which suggests he takes more than a passing interest in the club. I think the next 12 months are the most important. What sort of support they give Rafa for summer transfers and if a shovel gets turned over for the new stadiumthings are heading in the right direction.
"I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Only the greatest and the best can play such a match.

Thanks for posting that. Interesting read but talk is cheap so he should quit talking himself. I've said that I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Crucial times are ahead, such as securing cash for building the stadium and for backing Rafa in the transfer market.

            Tom Hicks said -

"They (the fans) wanted to protect Rafa. That part you have to admire,''

"We think Rafa's terrific. We put all that behind us.''

"We wanted to see what we could do with the players we'd already bought. We just wanted to see if the team was going to jell,''

"And then the media made up everything from that point forward. They made up that we were going to fire him. They made up that I told him to shut up. They made up this battle between Benitez and the Americans. It's really funny to kind of watch.''

Now he might be talking out of his arse and about to sack Rafa tomorrow. But its certainly interesting.

Time will tell. Rafa need to be backed to the hilt in the transfer market or else it won't be any #19 until we start to get more money from the new stadium.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

There is no doubting that the Americans are good with sound bites but one week of excellent sales proves nothing. Ask the fans what they think of the club sales, ask the fans what they think of ticket sales etc and you'll get a different opinion. I suggest some of you read Paul Tompkin's book "Above Us Only Sky".

I think that's harsh mate. I dont think they can be expected to turn around our abysmall performance in those areas in the short space of time. Especially when they've got their hands full with the stadium and all.

I'm sure things will improve in time though.

Les it's not that difficult to stock a club shop or put a few more people on the phone lines. If you want to capture the 'hearts and minds' of the average fan then you do the little things as well. It's not as if they've been here a week or so. However I don't blame them entirely, Moores should have sought greater financial guarantees as to their ability to finance the deal.

Difficult to know who to believe when you have the media spinning one story and Hicks/Gillet presenting a completely different side of things.

I suggest we just watch what happens and take everything else with a pinch of salt.

Kurt mate, write a letter to Foster or one of the owners. Given the fact that they intend on making money out of their ownership, shambolic merchandising is definitely something they should be made aware of. I'm sure they're already aware of the problems but the dates you mention above are unacceptable and embarrassing.

Agreed. We cannot influence it, but it pains me to see these buffoons try and talk their way into the hearts of the fans. A good chairman is seen but never heard. They should just get on with the business of financing our club's future and not keep trying to justify their involvement. We don't need to like them (and I don't) we just need to see the results of their chairmanship.

They're having difficulty in raising cash for:

                          1) Buying the club
                          2) Financing the stadium
                          3) Buying players

Hardly difficult to understand why fans are not behind them 100%. Add to that the **** up with Rafa.

Still, we'll just have to wait and see before jumping to conclusions on them, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm not holding my breath on you, Rashid and AF saying anything positive about the owners.

Hicks:i Have No Problem With Rafa

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks insists he has no problems with manager Rafa Benitez after their blow-up earlier this month over transfer funds.

"We wanted to see what we could do with the players we'd already bought. We just wanted to see if the team was going to gel,'' Hicks told Sports Illustrated. "And he went to a press conference and kind of pouted and answered the same question 20 times, 'I'm focusing on my team.'

"And then the media made up everything from that point forward. They made up that we were going to fire him. They made up that I told him to shut up. They made up this battle between Benitez and the Americans. It's really funny to kind of watch.''

On Liverpool fans protesting against he and George Gillett ahead of the match against Manchester United, Hicks insisted: "They wanted to protect Rafa. That part you have to admire,'' Hicks said. "We think Rafa's terrific. We put all that behind us.
