Being devils advocate though, don't you think that given the money that Rafa has been given, it would have been nigh on impossible not to have improved?

I know we have done well in Europe and there has been an FA Cup in there but in terms of the premiership and the consistency that is needed, he we seriously improved?

I don't know why I'm posting this, I'm still behind Rafa!
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

..because he's so tactically focussed. The reason he's so good in Europe (& Spain) is the reason he won't win us the PL.

And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left

        A defensive mid for £18m?

Is about the strength of it for me. We started the season very well but Rafa couldn't leave the formation alone. Take the defeat to Reading for example, middle of a good run of results with goals going in an away game against a lower team who are scrapping for their lives and he changes to a 433 formation with Crouch and Voronin out wide. Is it any wonder we drop points. Pompey away, Brum at home etc etc he can't resist a good tinker! I don't mind dropping points now and again but it's cost us a chance at the league this year and that hurts big time.

Sorry ta say it. Rafa chooses team, motivates the players and gives them their tactics. We can all say that the players are not their or that they do not perform, but the buck has to stop somewhere.

At the very least, Rafa has to get a number 2 in.
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

He can only sustain success for a limited amount of time as it's about him and not the team. There's only Hiddink who is any better imo and he ain't going to come.

Reading wasn't his fault either then?

Torres is glossing over the issues by his outstanding play but he can't carry everyone. The top two would have gone and do go for the jugular. We just aren't good enough. Sorry to say this but we haven't a hope in hell of catching Manure or Arse this season or any time soon.

I won't be surprised if Rafa will be sacked. I want him to stay but I doubt very that that will happen.

G&H will now have the perfect excuse to sack Rafa.

Either G&H sell up or they back Rafa in a big way in the transfer market. That is more or less the only options they have if Rafa stays if they want us to challenge for the title.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I would not blame and make Rafa the scapegoat for tonights result. However, for putting us in this position > 10 points below the leaders by December, Rafa has to shoulder some of the blame.
