I may have a solution.

Everyone knows teams miraculously up their game when a new boss comes in. More often than not they seem to win. Therefore I propose a 'Have I Got News For You' type system where each week we have a guest manager taking charge.

We'll win the league in no time.

AF, I actually think you may have hit the nail on the head.

1) IF G & H REALLY DO think Rafa is the manager then they will realise that the team needs serious, serious investment for us to cut it in a title challenge.

2) IF they wanted an excuse to sack Rafa - this is it. Out of the title race by the New Year after the best start for 10 years or more...if we go out of the CL to Inter I really will be expecting the axe.

Either way, in a starnge sort of way..this result could actualy change things for the better..either Rafa gets the $$$$ he needs or we get a new manager who can get us to perform in the League.

Then of course there are the other 2 worse options:

1) we get a manager who could do it , but is handed a shoestring budget too

2) 1) we get a manager who can't do it , and is handed a shoestring budget as well

The thing is that Rafa will probably need £50m+ net to sort out the wholes in the squad. I can't see G&H giving Rafa that.

Two new strikers £40m+
Two new wide players £30m+
A new central defender £10m
Fullbacks £20m+
Attacking midfielder £20m+

That's a lot of money and I mean a lot of money. We would of course get in £40m-£50m on some players that we sell but it's still a lot of money.

I'm not happy and criticism of Rafa is fair but the ****ty comment about him not caring if he gets sacked or not was out of order.

If we win our game in hamd we'll be 9 pts off arsenal and 8 pts ahead of Blackburn. In other words the gap this season so far puts Arsenal as far ahead of us as we are ahead of B;burn. Now I love Rafa but that is not acceptable at LFC.

For all his European brilliance we are once again battling for 4th place and not the title. G&H will act in the summer in my view.

Im not going to read through this thread because its bound to be a Rafa bashing one.

But before Rafa can be truly judged he either needs to be given the funds that the mancs and chelsea have had to spend and dont give me all this 'he had £40 odd million in the summer' bollox cause he never. OR given more time like Wenger to allow the youngsters to develop and break through.

Either way no-one would have or could do a better job than he is now.

Rafa will see us good when he has a proper transfer budget or when the youth players start breaking through

It looked like a 4231 for me. 2 holding mids because you have 3 attacking ones.
SG had the license to attack from deep against a team that sat back. Was a good plan I think.
