Yep. Simply not good enough from the players ultimately for me.

Crikey. Last month everyone wanted to light the torches and burn Hicks at the stake as a dumb American questioning Rafas tenure. Now everyone wants to burn Rafa instead. How contrary. Its not looking good, but its also amazing how black and white these things seem.

Oh, and as for Mourinho..... he tinkers and rotates as much as Benitez. He has similar formational ideas. He plays "defensive" football. And he won the Premiership twice..... having spent £300m in 2 seasons. Not to mention his inherent lack of class. Why he's such the great alternative for some slighty confuses me.

Gerrard and Mascherano had two chances to score in the first half, easy chances. Gerrard's chance was ridiculously easy, yet he failed to score being alone against the keeper with no defenders around him.

Another thing, Wigan get a free kick 45 yards from goal. They punt it in the box. Crap ball, no direction, straight to Gerrard. No Wigan defender around him, no pressure, he slices it at Mascherano. Mascherano tries to control it but it flicks right into Bramble's path. Wigan's only shot at goal, is a goal.

Then Gerrard, has a chance to redeem himself. After a great build up play, he shoots, Kirkland saves but can't control the ball, he's on the ground. Alonso and Gerrard race for it and kinda hinder each other's angle to the ball. Gerrard, from point blank, manages to hit it straight at the grounded keeper. Amazing.

What did Rafa have to do with it. Why do the mancs for example, manage to get the following results, without conceding that "freak" goal, does everything seem to go their way?

      Sunderland 1-0
Tottenham 1-0 (Tottenham had amazing chances to win it before conceding)
      Birmingham 1-0 (twice)
Everton 1-0 and 2-1 (both winners in the last 10 minutes)
      Liverpool 1-0

Do you honestly think this has anything to do with a bloody formation? We fail in things managers are not supposed to teach players.

      I'll talk slowly.

ARSENAL. ADEBAYOR. EBOUE AT RM. ROSICKY AT LM. HLEB BEHIND ADEBAYOR. ONE STRIKER. Happened most of this season, at home and away.

CHELSEA. DROGBA. TWO WINGERS BEHIND HIM. Countless of times, home and away.

What does this have anything to do with Gerrard unable to clear a simple ball from this box and us not finishing the chances we created even when Kewell was on the pitch?

      Because they equalized?

Yes, Rafa is clearly to blame.

      Quality mate.

I watched the game from the start to the end. If there was any it was sporoadic not constant.
We played 5 good minutes then dissappear for another 10. Thats not good enough to win the league. We have to be consistent and ruthlesss and this season its not happening all the time.

La Liga & The Prem are 2 different leagues with totally different players, we cant say 4231 worked there that means its defo gonna work here. Today was an example. I really respect where you coming from mate but you will have to realise soon that RAFA is getting more wrongs than rights lately.
Maybe so, but i am happy to wait and see if he is given some money to tidy things up.

Like someone said earlier, sack Rafa now and we'll be starting all over again.

Yes, people who go to the match and pay good money instead of sitting like a keyboard warrior telling everyone that they're wrong.

They're entitled to their opinion, mate, whether you like/agree with it or not.

The combination of factors not just the formation, but this had a big factor. Another natural goal scorer on the field would IMO have probably have ended up with one of those missed chances going in the back of the net.

Have you seen Wigan's away form?

Don't take this personally, but if you think the formation had no factor on the dropped points tonight, then you're blinkered....

I hardly ever post but must say that i love the forums at times like these, shows how many people are in totally the wrong job.

After a result like this most think they could manage our great team when all the experience they have is footy manager games lmao. Just look at how many time you come on here praising Rafa compared to having a go at him.

I am not happy at this result and I am sure Rafa is not happy. I don't think we will win the title this year but would be happy enough being closer to the top of the table this year than last.

If we'd won 1-0 you would have lauded the performance.

I can't fault the way we played today. Up until they scored, we were very good bar the score.

                                My thoughts exactly

If he did want the job thought and they do sack rafa I can only see it being him even if it is only for the publicity to the club he would bring.
