Yesterday that's what we had: 24/30 million sitting on the bench!

They are average players (i prefer Benayoun than Pennant and i think that pennant should be sold not Yossi), with 25 million you can buy a David Villa, you can buy a Berbatov or cheaper an Anelka. So there are funds yes; just get rid of the players who are not good enough for LFC and surprisingly that rafa bought.

What worries me is that clubs like Portsmouth and others have bought 1/10 of what we had and we are still only 3/5 points above them!!!

Crouch is not an average player. He's a world class striker and has proven this in the premiership, the champions league and at international level. Even though it's a moot point because he's going nowhere, your valuation of him is ludicrously low.

why waste 10 million on kuyt,8 million on crouch, 6 million on Sissoko, 6 million on Gonzalez, 7 million on Pennant? which makes the total of 37 million when you could have bought 2 WORLD CLASS PLAYERS instead!!!!!
It's not that easy for every Ronaldo there's a Djemba Djemba, for every Drogba a Kezman and every Torres a Kuyt, unfortunately.

Some times world class players can be bought for pennies and sometimes spending worldclass fees doesn't mean you get class.

        Get the prices right
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

so we now complaining about strength in depth and not spending too much?

If we'd won the last 2 match's the papers would be saying we're getting there as we winning with 30M on the bench.

but its not like we were miles away from winning them - thin line and all that.

If we had got battered then the comment re who's on the bench is valid

It doesnt matter what players he didnt get to sign. That is a decent squad that should be able to outplay Wigan at home. Instead all that talent went out there with no confidence, plan or semblance of playing good football. We went one up and then tried to hold out. Not about this player or that player. It's about how the team is set up and motivated and it was poor. That is Rafa's job. If we are going to play **** football with a plan B where we lump it forward to Torres then we should at least be able to console ourselves with results, but we are getting neither results nor good football.

The permiership exists on a thin line always but like it or not the table has an incredible way of lining teams up in order of how good they are. 5 position does not lie. We are probably the fifth best team in the league right now.

                        i support liverpool obviously

                        but

is it a coincidence that we almost never challenge for the league????????

is it that difficult to scout properly before you buy a player???

i watched kuyt in the world cup, he was ****e! when we bought him i was disappointed.

wenger has been doing it much better than us in the last 7 years.

remember when for the same price he bought Henry (11 million) and we bought Heskey and Pires (6 or 7 million) and we bought Barmby for the same price???????????

i am not mentioning the scum who financially are miles ahead of us!

It does make a difference yes who buys the players !!!

Alot of people are only looking at the 'now' instead of the bigger picture. Arsenal fans werent calling for Wengers head the last 2 seasons because they could see what was coming off with his new batch of youngsters.
Rafa is on the same path, but like Wenger was given, he needs time to see it through
I don't think Arsenal fans would be crying too much about a slight dip in form when they've just won league titles, been unbeaten for a season and seen Chelsea expected resurgence with bucket fuls of cash. Of our batch of youngsters, we've seen Lucas, and a pretty average CB in Hobbs. Wenger actually plays his young players.

Arsenal probably have the worst squad out of the 'big 4' imo, but they punch above their weight because their manager knows how his team needs to play to win games. The guy is a class above and would win the league with our squad imo. Rafa won't unfortunately.

Im not sure if im alone in thinking this, but given the chance i would swap our squad with arsenal's in a heartbeat.

Ok, but I think you'd be disappointed with the results.
