Hmmmm, i think the talent is there. The point of the thread is because in a lot of debates about alternative managers to Rafa, people keep saying Rafa needs 30 million or so every transfer window otherwise we're tying his hands.
This is patently not true IMO.

Well, when I say it's 40m (indeed 57m with masher), I'm assuming we sell Riise, Sissoko, Kuyt or Crouch, Pennant and Kewell for around £30-35m....

i never thought we could really win the league this season. Our good start made us think we were a chance, but our lack of creativity has cost us points (yet again)

The owners need to back Rafa this summer for 2 key players. A playmaking striker to combine with Torres, and a wideman who can deliver inch perfect crosses time and time again.

We get those two players and we will be right in contention.

If you want to have a title winning squad then you must have a great manager and at least 15, 16 great players.

We have Reina, Agger, Carra, Xabi, Lucas, Gerrard, Mascherano and Torres that you can say are great players. That's eight players.

We need better fullbacks, better wide players and better attacking players.

That's at least six players and then some backups to them.

I think my answer would be both. We should do better with the talent we have but also I think to expect Liverpool to rule the world is unrealistic without better funding.

Babel and Lucas isn't exactly average. A manager must be able to spend both on young and upcoming players and high quality players that will deliver straight away.

babel will be a brilliant signing.

Torres, Xavi, Babel and Masher will be the best signings he has made. No surprise there as you get what you pay for. Agger was a good find. he be worth over 10mil now.

We should be dong better than we have recently with what we have for sure. I'm going to reserve my judgment overall though until the end of the season.
