    Blips..

How many blips do we have in the season? It seems like this is our second blip in the season and it is starting to cost us, another match against Luton, 12 points (with a game in hand) behind the leaders.

As one of the best clubs in Europe, it is acceptable to have one blip in a season. A blip which should last only a few games. Manchester United were deemed to have a blip at the start of the season and picked up 2 points from 3 games but look at the form they are in at this moment in time. Even when they don't play to their full potential/maximum ability, they can have people on the bench to change the game and win games or hang onto games.

Arsenal have not had a blip as in drop many points in a matter of matches. They had two matches in the North East and lost one, drew one. They are still top of the table. That says enough about their character and confidence and mentality to bounce back after poor back to back results.

Chelsea had theirs just after the start of the season. A loss to Villa, draw at home against Blackburn, loss to Man U and another draw at home against Fulham. Since then they had an eight match unbeaten streak in the Premiership (7 wins-1 draw) and loss to Arsenal. Since that match, they have lost a lot of players and have been performing badly but have got the results.

This is the difference between ourselves and the top three. We don't have the strength in depth to win games. We had to field a decent Premiership side today and got away lucky with a draw. Yes, a draw to a League One side. This is really unacceptable.

This was the game for players who have been criticised and have had their confidence on a low to show the fans and the senior staff that they deserve to start matches. Today, only Crouch showed why he should start with Torres. Its lack of ingenuity, lack of belief, lack of confidence. Its everything that Liverpool should not be having. Looking on paper, we had the easiest draw from the top four yet we stuttered.

The blame lies not only on Rafa's shoulders but the players. Rafa buys a player to Liverpool, that player should play like a Liverpool player. I am looking at Kuyt and Voronin here. They are absolutely rubbish. They are the standard Liverpool shouldn't buy. Its all well and good to have numbers but if there is no strength in depth, no way will we win the title. Arsenal may not have massive depth but with what depth they have, they can pull of results. Man U have a fantastic squad, they get results. Chelsea have a decent squad, get results. The whole point of rotation, something I have belief in, is to have a squad which has equal ability. Something which on the evidence of today, is something we massively lack.

Sorry mate - that's not true imho. Crouch was awful today as were everyone except Carra & Itandje and maybe Babel. It demonstaretd to em why Babel should now be 1st choice striker up front with Torres, and we need to sell the other 3 ASAP and buy 2 more.

I thought babel was poor, a good run in the 1st minute and maybe a flash or two of brilliance but ananymous otherwise. I think he is still to raw. For every moment of magic he does something daft. His decision making and final ball are suspect. The potential is there though.

That's why he needs to be playing up front not out wide right now - as his decision-making is still too poor. but he's still more goal threat than any of our strikers other than Torres.

babel needs a run and not hacked off everytime he makes a mistake. was one of the better players today

Babel by his own admission is a striker and not a wide player, he needs a run in the team playing in the second striker position. As for blips we're dead and buried in the league and those so called blips for me were self inflicted with the changing of formations when we were on good runs. I really hope we do less of that next season.

better movement and support from our other striking options today would of helped him out. **** gray and tyler they are trying to sell a replay

A good side will win the game after a defeat or poor result to ensure it doesn't turn into a run of poor results. We simply don't have that capacity.

It's not strength in depth in numbers or even internation players though, we have a BIG squad. Just something isn't right.

I wish we could call these losses of form "blips." But blips last two or three games, not two or three months, which has been the norm with us the last three seasons. If anything, they underscore our lack of progress in the league under Rafa...

Two years ago, Chelsea ran away with the league for the second consecutive year, and we battled United down the stretch for 2nd place, losing out by a single point.

Last year, it was a two-horse race between Chelsea and United, and we battled Arsenal for 3rd.

This year, Arsenal and United are battling for the title, and Chelsea have pulled themselves into the race as well. All three of them have put some distance between themselves and us, and here we are battling it out with Villa, Everton and Man City for fourth.

Like it or not, the big four are becoming the big three, and we are being left out. And I'm not sure what can be done about it.

Rafa's formation tinkering doesn't help...why he does it, I don't know, except for the sake of looking clever. I understand that he wants to be able to adjust for different opponents, but if you don't have the personnel to pull it off then don't ****ing do it.

People go on about lack of money, and it certainly doesn't hurt to have it, but I don't think that's the answer. It simply isn't realistic that we're going to get the kind of money Abramovich forked out to buy Chelsea the title, regardless of what sort of loan deal G&H get, or if DIC come to the rescue.

United, meanwhile, won the title last year after their only significant additions, as I remember, were Carrick (we one-upped them on that one by adding Mascherano) and Vidic, who was signed for the type of transfer fee we were able to afford during Moores' stewardship. And they were only ONE POINT better than us in the league the year before that...

And Arsenal, apart from, perhaps, Gallas, haven't got a single player we couldn't have afforded when Arsenal acquired them. If anything, they're more an example of shrewd team-building than anything else.

I'm quickly losing faith in our manager's ability to win the league. It's true that we don't have a championship-winning side, but we should be doing better than we are. When the squad improves, but the results don't, the manager has to be held accountable.

We've shown at times that we're capable of playing excellent football and scoring goals, and then we suddenly turn to ****. If things don't turn around quickly, this season could go horribly wrong for us. And if that happens, Rafa's got to go.

Crouch played a great pass to setup Kuyt early on for a chance which Deadly Dirk blazed well over. Had that gone in the game might have turned out quite different. He also looked our only genuine threat in the first-half and in the second his level dropped but he still grabbed the goal when Kuyt wasn't even 20-30 yards within the goal by the time we got into their area.

The second-half today was probably the worst 45 minutes I've seen from Liverpool this season. I mean a League 1 side had more of the ball so it's not surprising that Crouch had fk all to do because we created virtually nothing in the way of chances.
