There could well be a lot of truth in that, certainly makes a lot of sense, and when you consider he was linked with Chelsea briefly as well once Mourinho departed (and I'm sure they never had any intention of appointing him or probably even considered him fro that matter) then there is added credence to your argument.

It's just that I have no faith in the yanks, and that's what really concerns me, that they may just do something as daft as this.

But I'll always support an incoming manager no matter who he is and that includes Klinsmann. However, he's not our manager now so it's time for him to wake up with a horse's head in his bed because i don't want that nobody anywhere near LFC.

Hills make Benitez a 5/4 chance still to be Liverpool boss on the first day of next season and offer 4/7 that he will have departed by then.
So they are offering better odds that he`ll stay.

I just read that Sports Illustrated interview with Hicks, 29th of December it was dated.
Made me a bit chilled about the issue.

Nah mate. The summer's budget was in place before the owners allegedly had a falling out with Rafa. If the relationship is indeed strained and they wanted to get rid of him, that summer budget would've been ripped up and pissed down the bog. You don't give a manager 6 million quid + to spend on a reserve centre half if you also want to sack him...and end up having to pay millions of pounds in compensation to the manager as well.

Now, you could look negatively at the situation which you're doing (even though it's guaranteed that you'll deny such an accustation) and then you're theory would makes sense.

You see, a couple of weeks ago people were saying if we don't spend a penny in the transfer window then Rafa's a goner. And I'd go along with that. But spending 6 million quid plus on a back up defender in the transfer window speaks volumes for me.

Reports are coming that Agger is out for the season mate, so I don't think he'll be brought in as a backup per se. With his age (23), I don't think he's been viewed as a backup by Rafa also buddy, more as someone who can directly compete with Carra long term.

Sadly, if rumours of Aggers injury are true, he won't just be backup, mate.

Fine, he comes in as no. 1 centre back. Its still 6 million plus on a player which isn't a bad amount of cash. Bottom line is imo, if the Yanks want to get rid of him they wouldn't give him 6 million quid to spend in the transfer window. And why wait till the end of the season before sacking him? I mean Klinsmann is available now and he's Hicks's best mate isn't he??

Spot on mate as the Yanks would see we have basic cover already.
Makes me laugh that people said if he got no money it would be proof that rafa was on his way and now he is spending £6m they say if he gets no more money. You can see the goal posts moving again as well.

                        No Gillett.

I think we should all stop speculating but I'll stand by my views that these 2 yanks are dodgy fools.

And they'll keep moving with every sh!te story that comes out. I'm convinced that if we do well in the premiership / Champions League this Rafa will still be in the job at the start of next season. If we have a mare then maybe he'll get sacked...

And maybe they'll prove to be. But maybe they'll prove to be alright.

It would be funny though to see the reaction on here if we did sign Mascherano this transfer window.
