Boro vs Liverpool - Build Up Thread

    Not seen one posted yet.

Agger back in the squad for us. Arca and Cattermole suspended for the Boro.

Hopefully we'll get an early goal and go on to win comfortably. Pretty confident we will.

We have a dreadful record there lately and as a result I'm never confident going there, least of all tomorrow.

They also raise their game against the top sides and often beat them, especially at home. Of course they beat Arsenal there recently.

The longer it remains 0-0 tomorrow, the worse for us. As you say...an early goal and we could hammer 'em.

Yeah i agree Shaggy. We should have Torres, Mascher and Gerrard back though. Think the players will be eager to put in a performance tomorrow (not that they ever shouldnt be).

        -----Pepe-----
        Finnan -- Sami -- Carra -- Arbeloa
        Mascher
        Benanoon -- Gerrard -- Kewell

        Crouch -- Torres

        Subs:
        Itandje, Babel, Alonso, Agger, Pennant

Bit early for Agger perhaps but the sooner he's back the better. Let them do the worrying about us.Would have Babel in over Kewell but think Kewell's better at retaining possession for the first 60min then bring on Babel to exploit the extra space/tired defenders with his pace and direct style.

I have this feeling we're going to completely hammer them.
Still won't make a blind bit of difference in terms of a title challenge but anyway.

I'd go with the same team although I'm uneasy about including Kewell, as he's been RUBBISH lately.

Is Aurelio fit? If so I'd play him, despite his woeful showing against Wigan, with Arbeloa at right-back. Finnan's slowly fading out of the picture for me.

Thought he was one of the better performers against Wigan old Finnan. Great assist too. Do like the options Aurelio gives us at lb but i'd go for solidity in this one. Gary O'Neil can be quite a tricky player for them and could give Fabio the run around.

We really should beat them, cant imagine what it'd be like on here if we dont.

Think Chelsea might drop points tomorra as Tottenham are in a bit of form and always offer a goal threat.

We've been poor at Middlesboro in recent years, and we're also playing **** at the moment.

Have a feeling we could grab 4 or 5 though if we're fired up for it. Hopefully after the Luton shame the players will be hungry - and if we can grab an early one then who knows...

With Torres playing I'm almost always confident we'll score

I'd like to think the players have a point to prove after the Wigan game, plus we seem to be better away than at home, where "smaller" teams sit back and we struggle to break them down.

                    I predict 2-0 to us

The problem with our team at present is that if we don't score an early goal we tend to go into our shells a bit.

Once we're two goals up we look like world beaters, case in point Ryan Babel, who only seems to do well when the team is open, fluid and full of confidence.

Gerrard and Torres seem the only attacking players capable of doing something when the stakes are high. Still at least we're back up to two players, since Owen left we only really had Gerrard, and of course Luis Garcia in European games

I will only start feeling confident with this team when they go a couple of goals down and storm back to win 3-2. Having said that, I'll be perfectly happy if we won every remaining game 1-0
                      Forwards.......

Sorry, but Crouch has been poor lately, and it is hard to imagine which striker deserves to play with Torres. I'd rather play him on his own, but with 3 attacking midfielders behind him.

I'm confident we'll win tomorrow. Boro are a poor team these days. Score first and we'll be sorted.

1-1 for me, Boro always play hard to beat against us and we seem to struggle to finish em off.
