Gerrard is a world class attacking midfielder, perhaps the most complete player in the game today, can turn a game with a moment of brilliance BUT
he's NEVER a playmaker, NEVER a game carrier, never an offensive LEADER.
One of Lucas or Alonso must play every game in the middle, regardless of where and how Gerrard plays.
Mascherano-Gerrard a good combination on paper with one huge overlooked problem= No playmaker.Comment

Yeah fair enough. Perhaps a good solution is to bring in Lucas alongside Mascher and play Gerrard on the right.
Then get rid of the alehouse Voronin/Kuyt and play Kewell/Babel/Benny alongside Torres.
As for the left, we need a new player there for sure.Comment

Gerrard has been playing so deep recently..it's one of "Rafa's baffles", he was in a rich vein of form scoring goals as an attacking CM, so why shackle him by making him play as a deep playmaker?Comment
