    Sami Hyppia

Now that Agger (touch wood) is getting back towards being match fit and we have signed skrtel Sami is about to get a much earned rest.

Rafa told Sami at the start of the season he would play in about 20 games. I.E. he would come in occasionally to rest Agger or Carragher and play in the odd cup game. At his age he knows himself he cant play 2 or 3 times a week. Nature doesnt let the body recover in time to keep performing at a top level at the age of 34. When we missed out on heinze, then Agger got a long term injury we had no alternative but to turn to the huge finn and just hope he could do his best playing in every game week in week out because we simply had no alternative.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank big Sami for exceeding himself, he has really pushed his body to the limits yet we still have one of the best defensive records in the division.

Now he can go back to being used just as cover, when he will be playing games 100% fit, there is nobody I would rather have in the world for this role.

Again, Sami I thank you mate for the stint you have just put in and appreciate just how much it must have taken its toll on you.

I love Sami. He's a true Liverpool great.

Given he cost 2.5 million, I would say he's our best ever signing.

Isn't he due a testimonial soon?

He's had an amazing career with us.
Think he arrived in '99, so not sure if he'll get a testimonial.

If Rafa stays Kev, I think he'll get another year.
