          Alan Hansen on Hicks-Klinnsman talks

Former Liverpool star Hansen is at a loss as to why Hicks went public on the situation.

In his column on the BBC Sport website, he said: "I haven't got a clue why he has come out and said this.

"Maybe the story was going to come out and he thought he'd be better off making a statement first.

"Whichever way you look at it though, these events cannot do anything but undermine manager Rafael Benitez.

"His position is not untenable, but for one of the owners to come out and publicly say he had talks with the man who was heavily linked with Benitez's job - well, it puts even more pressure on the Spaniard.

"Insurance policy or whatever Hicks wants to call it, the fact is he met Klinsmann and offered him the job if Benitez went, which is remarkable."

Also the Echo are reporting that if we didn't get through the group stages of the CL they would have sacked him. FFS the man has taken us to 2 finals in 3 years but the yanks want rid.

****ing cunts the pair of them and it's us fans that get shafted by such a pair of ****s.
They wanted Rafa sacked and Klinsmann to come in if we hadn't made the knockout stage

But regardless of that, what it says is that they have no confidence in Rafa and are looking for an excuse to sack him, as long as those two are in charge Rafa's days are numbered

Surely they went public as Bayern dropped them in the **** when they announced Klinsmann was going to be managing them.

Bayren also announced that Klinsmann had turned down Liverpooi and opted to manage them.

I've no doubt that if Bayern had not said a thing then no offical statement would have been released.

I certainly agree that it undermines Rafa's position, whatever they claim it implies they either don't want Rafa or don't trust him, either way that makes it difficult for them to work together

They are trying to force his hand, they're basically admitting no confidence. How can you possibly run a team with this running over your head?

                              Cunts, ****ing cunts.

While I have always appreciated your info Tom I rarely agree with you views, we're from different world's This time however we come from the same school of thought.

Anyone who can't see the intention behind this today's revelation must be very naive. Before you all start putting the boot in, my comment is an opinion, not dig.

                                Lost for words.

I've not read the whole thread but it seems like it's been pretty full on in here today and I probably can't add anything that hasn't been said.

The man Hicks talks to much and does more harm than good when he opens his mouth. We have become a target for the press in recent weeks and it's sad tat most of there ammunition has come stright out of our owners mouth. It's sickening.

After todays revelations they either have to back Rafa or sack him so that we can move on.
