            It's an opinion. Sue me.
Just out of curiosity, how do you know he wouldnt have any trouble attracting the top players?

Deep thinker about the game? Again, how do you know this?

Not having a go mate, just you seem to speak as if you know the guy personally. I dont see how anyone could know how well he will do in club managment - he has zero experience!

Jurgen Klinsmann! The guy has absolutley zero experience in managing a club. That speaks volumes about the owners for me.

I see where you're coming from about the whole 'lets just wait and see', but if people had taken that attitude when Benitez's future was called into question and hadnt protested then who knows, maybe he would have been sacked regardless of champions league progression.

You can remain calm in these situations and fair play to you. The vast majority of us cant (check out some of the other forums and the vitriol directed against G&H is far worse than it is on here!).

The imperative being on 'would'. What remains is that you do not know for a fact that this would have happened.

That's the whole point when dealing with hypothetical argumentation. It's insubstantial and unreal, it's actually not even an existing entity per se.

And this is where a lot of forum talk goes wayward, you can see it on a daily basis on here 'What if'. I'm not saying 'ban hypothetical argumentation', all I'm saying is that it's not the most fruitful way of discussion and forming one's opinion about something.

I really don't see why people are so upset about Klinsmann as he's a goner, he's Bayern manager now and that's that.

So even if the counter-argument to that is 'But that's not the point, the point is, they chose Klinsmann (or any manager for that matter), a man with zero credentials and they back-stabbed Rafa'.

We don't know whether Rafa didn't know about this. Hicks speaking to the press didn't help matters, but as someone else said, they might just be holding contingency plans should it all go tits up. Who knows, not that I'm advocating this action or not, it's irrelevant.

Fact of the matter is, Rafa's still here, Klinsmann's long gone and now we move on, forward.

I'm just being much more practical and rational in my reasoning, maybe it's naive, I don't know. All I know is that I'm not going to start galloping along to the bandwagon of '**** the yanks, they're cunts, backstabbers, moneyrobbers, historykillers etc.'

I have yet to see any significant ****up (that actually has to do with the club itself, ie. employees being sacked, players revolting, etc.) to tell me otherwise.

I'm sure that they will be told in no uncertain terms by people connected to the club (in some shape or form) that this behaviour of recent times cannot continue. Mis-communication, a couple of cocked up decisions of when and when not to speak, it's all just words at the moment.

As far as I can see, we're still getting a new stadium, Rafa's still the manager and seems to be backed in the transfer market (why would they buy him a player if they are to sack him a month later?), we're still in 3 competitions, mathematically it is not impossible for us to get closer to the top 3, there's still a fair bit of football to be played, I'm just not throwing in the towel yet with regards to the owners, Rafa, the players and our chances of success.

The way it reads you'd think we're close to administration with the owners just about ready to jump ship, knocked out of every competition, players leaving left right and centre, etc...

              Anyways, onwards and upwards

He has zero experience and to be honest he wouldn't be anywhere near my list of candidates if I were looking for a manager of a top club.

However I have seen a couple of articles which claim that at coaches conferences he is thought of as one of the top speakers in the world game. Obviously there is a big difference between talking the talk and walking the walk but I think being taken seriously by the worlds top coaches is a sign of thinking deeply and well about football.

Thanks for the detailed response. Hicks telling the echo that Rafa WOULD have been sacked if we'd have failed to qualify for the next stages of the champions league is a big deal in my eyes.

Im not going to waste both our time and re-write my views to you, lets just agree to disagree.

Fair enough, but like you said there is a BIG BIG difference between talking the talk and walking the walk. Im sure he'd make a really excellent pundit.

You said it yourself, the guy would be anywhere your list of candidates. And the majority of us feel the same - thats why we're all so pissed off that it was a serious possibility!

The main reason to why G&H own the club IMO.

In this day and age A top club needs a top manager who is experienced, if we get someone who has never managed a football club before we are in trouble
