Just read the latest Oliver Kay piece in which he has spoken to several employment lawyers who say that Rafa would be able to claim unfair dismissal as a result of Hicks' quotes. So it seems its not the cash that is keeping Rafa at the club. I suspect its more likley the outside chance that they will be forced to sell

Good theory. I reckon they would have employed Jurgen but were ****ing ****houses and couldnt find a way to sack Rafa without making themselves look even more idiotic than they already do. If the owners used the excuse of not qualifying from the group, after Rafa took us to two finals, as a reason for sacking him then we really would be in trouble. We'd be no better than Real Madrid.

He gave them their night out in Athens when they really had no contribution towards it.

Rafa has given more to this club than their hollow promises and I hope he's allowed to continue to do so.

here here, however after all of this speculation even I am of the mind that either g&h or unfortunately Rafa will be leaving before next season. Theres too much **** going around to really know what the **** is going on mind but I will hope for the best but expect the worst in this particular scenario. ****ing americans.

Rafa can by the look of it walk away with at least £5m so there isn't really any difference anymore if he walks or get sacked if you look at it from the economic side.

One weapon less for Hicks. He can't try and force Rafa to walk away anymore and save £5m.

I'm not sure this even warrants a thread of it's own but it's something that has dawned on me and is perhaps worthy of discsussion. If not the powers that be can either nuke it or move it to a more appropriate place.

Is the reason that Klinsmann never ended up getting Rafa's job because, after his much publicised interview our owners realised that, every manger worth their salt needs to be backed in terms of transfers?

I have the impression that our owners felt that Rafa was simply asking for cash to spend hand over fist but realised, after talking to Klinsmann, that he would want the same.

Maybe they felt that it would be cheaper to keep Rafa rather than appoint someone new because he's managing his squad and a new man would want more money?
