I know what ou're saying, but Xabi is more the brains on the pitch, he isnt vocal or forceful enough to act as capitan.

Stevie does come out with some clangers tho in interviews- he aint the brightest or most press-savvy.

But you are also inferring that you think Gerrard doesnt conduct himself well in interviews.

Personally I disagree with that, I think both Gerrard and Carragher bit give very honest interviews, more honest than most other club captains anyway. Gerrard is normally the first person to admit when himself or the team are underperfoming and has never once put any blame on the manager.

I'm inferring that I like the way Carra operates better, maybe more consistently!

Stevie is still a good captain and hopefully may learn a few things from Carra before Carra hangs up his boots.

Stevie at times can come across moody even sulky, sometimes can have a bad day and drift out of matches - Carra doesnt have that luxury - if he drifts out of a game were fooked.

I think Stevie needs to feel loved and have recognition from his peers etc, Carra just wants to get on with it

Maybe I'm wrong , maybe I'm right, I want Stevie to stay as captain, just not as recognition for his efforts/talent but as recognition that he as well as us, believes he is our leader psychologically and physically at all times and will not suffer fools (such as I ) gladly.

THere have been a few mate, although I struggle to remember off the top of me head. The one that I rememeber most recently- and it may not be the best example I admit- was him muttering about foreign players & quotas.

Now SG has a foreign manager & deeply foreign team, some of whom, Carra aside, are better players than any of the locals. Whilst far from patriotic I too would like to see one or two more British players in the squad but such comments do nothing to boost internal relations within the multi-cultural camp.

He needs to bear in mind that if the PL brought in quotas all of the players of the standard of Nando, Xabi & Masher would **** off elsewhere & no teams from the PL would be winning the European cup.

Perhaps more tellingly, (& even tho I agree with him), I dont think he should be criticising Rafa's tactics for the last final against AC in public.

Doesn't count does it, that was in England guise. We are talking about him as Liverpool captain.

It's just silly to discuss. Stevie is a pretty damn good leader too if you don't mind. Stevie leads by example and wins games. He ain't perfect but he is still pretty good, especially in Finals.
