It's by John Edwards, a journo and he does know what he is talking about (IMO)

Nothing new in that piece mate. It sounds like just another opinion from someone who may or may not know anymore than we do.

Not at all, I am sticking my what I was told. I am just shocked at Hicks stance as it goes against what is happenintg privately.

You are right - just found it on the Mail website by the same journalist who wrote the "won’t sell unless the price is right" in quotes headline above despite the fact it wasn't a quote and the article pretty much saying the opposite.

How can you be so sure it is happening?

He's a proud Texan. He has to show defiance. That's in their blood. And again, as long as nothing's been signed then he has to make out that he doesn't want to sell. If he says that he wants out now and then for some reason a prospective buyer pulls out then he's real easy prey for future buyers. It's all gamesmanship imo.

and he want to get the best possible deal.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

One thing I did notice is that Hicks' statement was released through a finance PR firm to the press agency so he's obviously been advised on what to say. He doesn't seem to have taken advice when briefing the media before, just ask The Echo who caught him out last week over the Klinsmann story, so he's obviously had input on what should be said.

Why's he done that? Or am I reading in to things to much?

He might have actually learned to keep his mouth shut for a change! I still think it is too much to ask though...

Incidentally, didn't Tony Barrett who broke the Klinsmann story in the Echo say that in the same interview Hicks revealed something big, but Barrett was told (possibly by Hicks) not to disclose it? I wonder what that was. Could it be takeover related?
