He wouldn't have been stupid enough to offer to quit, if he resigned then he walks without a pay off (before all this constructive dismissal stuff after the Klinsman meeting became public)

Just as a guess, who do you think would want to leave if Rafa left? Just the spaniards?

Gerrard would then again have to decide if it's worth to start all over again with a new manager with very little chance to win the PL or to go to a club that can win the title.

I'm not that sure that he would be prepared to stay with a new manager that won't get the funds we need to be able to win the PL.

This depends on where Rafa ended up.
If he took over at RM or another big club some of the players would have wanted to leave with him, but would he bring them along? If he joined a big club doing well a player like Arbeloa might not cut it.
If he ended up at a medium spanish/italian club I doubt players like Alonso and Reina would join him.

To state the obvious anyone who features under Rafa but doesn't under the new manager will want to leave.
Hypothetically if Klinnsman had got the job and replaced one of Arbeola/Finnan/Riise etc.. with Lahm then we wouldn't be complaining but we would still have to pay the transfer fee for Lahm, pay his wages, pay off whoever he replaces so on so on, it's not just if the better players leave. If Leto (for example) leaves without submitting a written transfer request we have to pay up his contract

I think it's ludicrous to assume that because Rafa is Spanish, all Spanish players would want to leave if he left!!

It probably is but the post you've highlighted doesn't suggest that. It suggests that the Spanish players would be the one's most of us would be most worried about leaving if Rafa went.

Not a reasonable line of thought at all. It's the kind of thing a lazy journalist might come up with - not someone with any level of rational and logical reasoning.

Name a few managers that have left their club and were followed by a mass exodus of their fellow countrymen.....

Surely who would come in would have a huge impact? Look at Chelsea before Ranieri left - hlaf the team were actively threatening to leave if he went - when Mourinho came in they all changed their tune.

I have huge problems with G+H in the way they went public with Rafa and their lies. However, Rafa went public first and Rafa is the one still not cutting it in the league and yes Rafa is the one who spoke about wanting the England job. I wouldn't be that bothered if Rafa was sacked...

Managers who have won things, managers who will take us to the next level of football away from the disgusting pragmatism of Houllier and the "control" obsessed pragmatism of Benitez. Managers who have experience of managing big clubs and handling the pressure - managers who don't need 5 year plans to challenge for the league title... Rijkaard and Hiddink would be a good start.
