Very ineffective player when we need a goal though.

I agree in a sense. It was not one of his better games but his determination and will to win is second to none. He even tried to set up attacks. We must not forget that he's still young and has a lot to learn, but what a talent.

Arguably not his job/role in the team.

It's not Alonso's or Riise's neither come to think of it Hyypia also, how ever them seem to be a threat at times and chip in with the odd goal....
On awaiting Everton's arrival for a derby game at Anfield, Bill Shankly gave a box of toilet rolls to the doorman and said: "Give them these when they arrive – they'll need them!"

IMO he lunges too much, take the free kick for the second goal for instance, The player was going no where and yet he gave away a very silly and needless free kick that led to there second goal.

And please ffs don't tell me Gerrard has gone from being the best Midfielder in Europe to now being not fit to captain the reds....

Grow up ffs people Gerrard has carried us along with Torres for the best part of this season. What the **** has Masch done? I like the lad but please......
Don't get me wrong mate, i'm not calling for Stevie to be stripped of the captaincy, far from it, i just wanted to point out how Mascher played with that will to win tonight
We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.

This is my point though... He plays better then Gerrard for 1 GAME and people are calling for him to be captain and saying he's better then Gerrard.... Come On FFS.

He's not expected to do it because he's not good at it.

The Gerrard-Mascherano partnership is a liability to the team. Either drop Mascherano or move Gerrard from CM. Alonso (or Lucas) has to be there. I prefer moving Gerrard btw.

I would move Gerrard back to RM, with Xabi along side Masch.

Future captain as the title of the thread states. Stevie and Carra are not getting any younger.

Masch has been the most consistent player for us this season IMHO.
