    Liverpool Grassroots FC? Poll

Imagine a bunch of Liverpool fans set up a non league team called Liverpool Grassroots FC - not in opposition to - but as a complement to the Reds (ie at home when the Reds are away like the old reserves was)

Who would go along and watch them to have your grassroots footy buttons pressed in a way that was both partisan and pro LFC?

I inherited 57 shares in South Liverpool (there were only 1000 issued) and was invited onto the board back in the 1980s. Then they went bust!

They are called The Reserves and they play at Warrington every now and again.

No, they're still called South Liverpool and they play their home matches at Jericho Lane...

Not like FC United which was set up in opposition to the club, but something which would complement the Premier League stuff yet allow us to re experience the fun of grassroots pre commercial footy.

And not the ressies cos 1) they play in Warrington and 2) they are run by the club and 3) the reserve league is a joke as Rafa has pointed out several times. This would be run by LFC fans for LFC fans as something to do when the Reds aren't playing and to experience the involvement of grassroots footy.

And not South Liverpool cos thats not a pro LFC thing and so wouldn't carry the same partisanship that an LFC fans project would.

it'd be boss to play FC United though and batter them 3-0

I know a lot of lads who go to watch FC United. They get more fans at home games than many teams in Leagues 1 and 2 and even take up to 3,000 away from home. Believe it or not there are even some Scousers who follow them!

me too. i think it'd be boss.

it wouldn't be in place of going to anfield of course, but it'd give me a lot of the things that are missing from the game these days and would kind of complete my football experience.

                          i'd love it.

it'd annoy if it was only set up as a protest, but if it was a straightforward pro LFC thing run by Liverpool fans it'd be boss.

I've often thought non league stuff would be interesting but I simply don't have a reason to care about Marine or South Liverpool in the partisan way I would if there was a Liverpool Grassroots FC, run by and for Liverpool fans.

So far 40% of those who don't live too far away are into the idea of a pro LFC partisan non league team to complement our Premier League stuff.

Surely that makes the idea a viable proposition.

It'd be interesting to see a history of FC United. It's pretty impressive to set up an entire club from scratch and it'd be interesting to read an indepth story of how they did it.

                              Does one exist?

I think we'd get plenty of support for our LFC fans non league team. Maybe in this day and age of sky fuelled commercialism, many clubs fans will set up these little partisan alternatives to fulfill the grassroots bit that is missing from just following the Premiership.

I want a Liverpool Grassroots FC to complement Liverpool FC.
