The reason Pepe isn't exposed enough to have to make eye-catching saves is due to two reasons, one that we have a good defence and secondly that he's so quick off his line that the opposition struggle to get clear cut chances. He's very good at punching under pressure and catching when not and his distribution is great.

Instead of saying you don't remember him making good saves ask yourself has he let any goals in that he really should have saved? That's the litmus test as far as keepers go.

for those that think Carson can do better than Reina. Be careful for what you wish for.

i have always thought he was good - put his form for the last 6 games or so has been magnificent

He's been unbelievable lately (just from watching highlights mind you), on current form may be the best keeper in the world. Cant imagine any keeper in world footy is playing better than him at the mo.

I don't see why people feel the need to slag Carson off to be honest. This season he has shown him self to be a good shot stopper for Villa and behind an organised and experienced defense appears to be developing other areas of his game. His isn't as good as Reina but he is a very good keeper.

Exactly, Carson has to show he can consistently play well for a top 4 club. As far as Reina goes can someone point out his mistakes this year. **** it, if that's too hard you can have last year as well. I'll start

I reckon Carson is as good if not better then Reina. I cant remember the last time Reina made a decent stop. Alot of the goals conceded have done so without a decent effort at stopping then. His penalty saving skills cant be questioned but as for in normal play more questions need to be asked, he's getting off way to easy.

The best keepers never have to make memorable or great saves.

I don't remember many saves made by Pepe or Cech. I remember a couple of great saves by Robinson this season though.
