Yup, I'm Irish too and I can't stand him.

He's a traitior who walked out on his country when they needed him most. A pathetic and egotistical act I'll never forgive him for.

He also tried to end another professional's career. I will never be able to respect him because of that.

Most infuential player in the Premiership? Possibly, I might argue Henry for the sake of it, but Keane was certainly emmense for the scum for years.

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

              * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Damn it, was hoping I'd catch at least one

Ok, so lets not argue about the Ireland thing (mainly because I'm obviously right).... but I can't see there's much argument about the other bit.

You could argue that he walked out on Ireland because they had a Mickey Mouse set up(The rock hard training pitch, the manager and the hotel) but walking out on your country is unexcusable.

He never meant to play the ball ! Outrageous tackle. He should have been banned for months because of that. No matter what he says ... He didn't play the ball.

Keane has an air about him believing he's a god. That's why he thought he had a point against Mick McCarthy about this infamous incident when he stormed out of the world cup team. Totally out of order.

He's a **** that will fail at management because he doesnt have the skills. The biggest task is man-management and getting the best out of your players. He doesnt possess the know-how to manage people

I think he genuinely thought he was acting in the best interest of the team and that the FAI and McCarty would back down and react accordingly. They didn`t.McCarhty has proved since that he was clueless.Keane in hindsight should have stayed, but he always wore his heart on his sleeve.

Fact is, Ireland were never going to win the world cub through having great training facilities or equipment. A world cup is supposed to be the pinnacle of any player's career, something they should crawl over hot coals just for the chance to play in. The way Ireland played in that tournament, and the way the draw panned out, they could have almost gone all the way with Keane in that midfield. Walking out was pathetic and truely the act of a man who believed he was bigger and better than his compatriots.

He may be making a decent manager, but I will never be able to respect Roy Keane the way i might have before that incident.

By thinking he was acting to his team's best interests, he undermined it and his fellow players. If he really wanted to do his best, he should have swallowed his pride and his personal beliefs and got along with the job of helping the team in this particular world cup.

He could have waited to solve his disagreements. That's what being a professional is about. Get along with the job and wait for an opportunity to raise some issues when the time is right.
