Aurelio has struggled of late though and Riise usually does alright against Chelsea. I'm more amazed at the number of people who've put Skrtel in ahead of Sami who has done really well recently and will have had over a full week to recover form the previous game.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostI'm appalled by the amount of people who put Riise in the team

I'd be worried about Anelka and Wright Philips tearing him apart with their pace.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostAurelio has struggled of late though and Riise usually does alright against Chelsea. If Arbeloa's fit, I'd play him at LB. Presumably he isn't. That whole side is a real problem, I struggle to see Benitez playing Aurelio and Benny there, or even more unlikely, Babel, who I'd start just for the hell of it. I actually think Benitez has got it right not starting him that much, the kid is sooooo raw and he don't half make the wrong decision at times, but with what's been going on in the league so far, its caution to the wind time. I'm afraid he might go with Aurelio AND Riise however. Pennant will probably be on the right, though i think I'd play Gerrard there in this one, with Lucas in the middle. With Skrtel's pace I'd throw him in at the deep end, but we'll play Hyppia, who has been superb this season but will force us to play deeper.
What I think we'll play
Reina
Finnan - Carragher - Hyppia - Riise
Pennant - Mascherano - Gerrard - Aurelio
Kuyt - Torres
What I'd want us to play
Reina
Finnan - Carragher - Skrtel - Aurelio
Gerrard - Mascherano - Lucas - Babel
Crouch - TorresI could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

only problem is, is skittles ready for this one??
hard to see sami not starting
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

That's always going to be a worry with Sami, but in practise - how often has this happened? He's nearly always up against faster opponents, yet 9 times out of 10 deals with it admirably and comes up with a great performance.
Also, the only alternative is Skrtel, who would be a huge risk this early in his LFC career.Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it

Sure, that's the obvious concern with Sami, but is Skrtel really ready to face Chelsea away? I suppose only Rafa can tell having seen him training, but from the outside I think Sami is the safer bet.Originally posted by Frodo View PostI'd be worried about Anelka and Wright Philips tearing him apart with their pace.Like blood on iron

I can't see us holding a high line so ball over the top is unlikely to be a problem. I see Sami's experience getting him the nod over Skertel for this oneOriginally posted by Frodo View PostI'd be worried about Anelka and Wright Philips tearing him apart with their pace. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'd give Skrtle the nod, throw him in against the best and see how he does, he'll be better for the experience AND it's not as if this is a MUST win game, we usually lose there anyway in that before the season started i wouldn't expect anything from this game, we're not fighting for the Premiership. We come not to play.

I think this has been one of MAIN problems with Agger injured, with Sami we have to play deeper meaning our midfielders are sometimes to far off to truly support the strikers, having a pacey centre back will go some way to helping overcome this problem.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI can't see us holding a high line so ball over the top is unlikely to be a problem.
