On a similar note, I remember a few years back someone digging up some stats about the club being "racist" as we had the lowest ratio of blacks at the club compared to the rest of the country. Maybe Diao was a "token" signing to meet the equal opportunities act? I think we killed 2 birds with one stone when we got him as we covered ourself with the disability act aswell!

**** I've had it with this World Soccer Daily bull****.

I only started listening to it in recent months, and was only made aware of the main host's (Steve Cohen) comments regards Hillsbrough and Heysel a few weeks ago.

On Monday's show - which you can download via iTunes which is dated 5/02//08 - he made comments which I was absolutely filthy at, I could not believe what I was hearing... this was not the usual "err stupid Scousers rant you hear from Mancunians etc - he stated that Liverpool fans, and the city, were the most disgraceful and racist people on the planet.

I haven't had a problem with the constant anti-LFC he goes on about every episode because its nothing different from what we say about Man United and Everton ... its just the usual banter ... but to hear this bull**** was unreal.

This is what he said word for word on Monday's show ... it happens in the 9th minute for those who download it and want to listen for themselves.

in all my time i have never heard a racist remark at anfield, on in the city itself for that matter.

then you havent been going to matches very long and your exposure to liverpool as a city is minimal .

the city of liverpool - and lfc's fan base contains a vast number of people with racist views. the "trigger trigger trigger" brigade are still sitting in seats around the stadium, theyre just reserving their views for a different situation. The fact that expressing these views would get them thrown out of anfield hasnt stopped people holding these views - but its good that someone like yourself hasnt been exposed to them.

This forum - and kt when i was on there - is dominated by younger people whove grown up in an era of political correctness. imo, that is for the most part a bad thing but one good result seems to be zero tolerance for the expression of "racism". The britain of today is very different in what it is acceptable to say and do on the subject of race/colour from the time when i started to go in the 1970's

it would be a huge mistake to think that this equates to britain (or football crowds) being any less "racist" than it was then

IMO having lived in all 3 cities, Racism is prevalent in manchester and london (cities AND football supporters!) - far more so than liverpool. that doesnt change the facts that we have our share of racists

There are a couple of lads who sit a couple of rows behind me in the kop who shout the odd racist comments from time to time. It's disgraceful. But there's no doubt that after living in London, racism is far more prevalent there than it is in Liverpool.

Sadly you are rirght, however thankfully it is a tiny minority. I think the appearance of John Branes and the way he was treated actually helped to redeuce the overt racism among the Liverpool supporters.

Because if you want to say 'Hicks and Gillette out' then say it. But don't put banners up in your stadium 'Yanks out' - like its some statement saying lets get all Americans out, because that's what your saying and if you don't like it go read your own signs.
